Can we assume that's the beginnings of the DLRR track bed in the last picture?

From MousePlanet:

"After so many weeks of watching bulldozers move piles of dirt around the Star Wars Land construction site, it was pretty exciting last week to see the first signs of vertical construction in the project. Disney also just filed a building permit to install "shoring for (the) first attraction" in Star Wars Land."

Things seem to be moving pretty fast.

Only 3-5 years to go!
Actually, using the massive Cars Land project as a point of reference, this stage of construction looks a lot like December, 2009. Cars Land was completed and began soft openings two and a half years later in May, 2012.

The date that Miceage released when it revealed its famous maps of Star Wars land (that look more accurate by the week) seems very plausible. That Miceage opening date was "Christmas 2018" if memory serves correct.

Two and a half years from now.

You might be right. 2 1/2-3 years.I wonder why previous projects (looking at you Avatar / Mine Train ride) took so long. It must be a Florida thing.

The horrible and oppressive climate in Orlando can't be conducive to efficient and speedy construction.

I hated just having to run errands half the year when I lived in the Deep South. I can't even imagine being tasked with daily heavy construction.

The Star Wars Experience at Christmas. We can only hope this is playing all through the new land.

That's what I was thinking too. You can get a good view of it from the Big Thunder Trail through the fence. I don't remember as much wood being up last Wednesday...could see a clearer concrete path if I remember correctly.

Sooooo.... if that is the track bed, how exactly will guests cross it into SW Land? Surely they aren't going to have both the walkway and the railroad at grade level.

Mine train only took 2.5 years. Pandora will be a bit over 3.

They are throwing lots of money at this to get it done in 35 months. *hopefully*

The track is above grade on the trestle/rockwork. Guests go underneath through windy tunnels or a gully.

Edit: Yes what @RMichael21 said
