A big concern I have with Galaxy's Edge- is that it's based on the sequel trilogy- with the First Order and Resistance. Yes, it will have many callbacks to earlier eras, but it's my understanding that the main attractions will be based on the sequel trilogy.

And so far, the sequel trilogy kind of sucks. TFA was interesting enough- and I really enjoyed it- but the Last Jedi kind of blew any interest I had in the current story arc and characters. I'd much prefer if Disney were focusing on the Empire/rebellion era.

The good thing about the new trilogy is that all the imagery is copied from the original trilogy, so it won't matter. The First Order looks just like the Empire in ships, Stormtroopers, Officer Uniforms, and weapons. We still have the Falcon and other remnants as well. I loved half of TLJ, but it did kind of kill a lot of what was set up. It makes TFA an almost pointless movie as everything it begins to set up was changed for TLJ.

I brought that idea up a few months ago. I think it will alienate (pun slightly intended) a good amount of the old fan base who are entering a Star Wars Land expecting to find Darth Vader, Yoda, and Hair-Bunned Leia, and instead get a steady diet of Rey, Kylo-Ren, and BB-8.

Kylo is no Vader. Just because he has a couple other little bits of laser that shoot out of his lightsaber...we're expected to oooh and aaah? ::yawn::

And in yet MORE SW news...today is apparently also #JediDay as Mark Hamill has finally gotten himself a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

In some other rather...uh...interesting SW News...it looks like Jon Favreau will be overseeing yet another new SW series.

But, it turns out that people are upset because he's just a regular straight white male and not the transgendered-black-immigrant-dwarf-female they're hoping for...

And as if that wasn't bad enough:
"Not everyone thinks that #InternationalWomensDay was the best day to announce another male Star Wars exec."
They’re complaining because of his race and gender? Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t that textbook racism and sexism? Bunch of hypocrites.

Similar to Star Tours, I'd expect the timeline to be ambiguous enough to be able to please all Star Wars fans and not feel like it's too rooted in the current trilogy vs previous ones. There's also a whole new trilogy coming after this one too, so I think Batuu will feel similar but remote enough that it could live within any of the movies.

BTW, I just read the description on StarWars.com for Batuu and doesn't it sound A LOT like a sci-fi Radiator Springs?? Interesting...

"A remote outpost on the galaxy's edge, Batuu was once a busy crossroads in the days prior to lightspeed. With the rise of hyperspace travel, however, the world -- notable for the lush trees and mountain spikes that decorate its surface -- was left behind, its prominence lost to planets on more popular trade routes. Today, Batuu is home to those who prefer to stay out of the mainstream, and a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders, and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space. Significantly, it has also become a safe haven for those looking to avoid the attention of the First Order."

Yup. An intergallactic Route 66.

I had the same complaint when I first found out it would be based on the new trilogy. Although I do actually enjoy the sequel trilogy quite a lot, people quickly shifted from conversations about TLJ to conversations about Solo just weeks after Episode VIII hit theaters. Frankly, Lucasfilm is killing its own movies by releasing so many of them. I desperately wish we weren't getting these anthology films and the focus was only on the saga films. There are two things that changed my mind on the land being set during the sequel trilogy and that's just how much I loved The Last Jedi (although its unpopularity is evidence my original belief was correct), and the over saturation of content set during or around the original trilogy. Rebels, Rogue One, Solo. I'm so happy we're getting to see more of the sequel trilogy's world since it has barely been explored instead of more of the same with Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

I'mma get banned for this but Kylo's a better villain than Vader. The only thing that could ruin him is if he's redeemed in IX.

After having him struggle with the call to the light in TFA- kill Han Solo, cementing him as a villain- but ignoring that and acting like he's still considering being good in TLJ, to have him kill Snoke cementing him as a villain- I think Kylo is a great idea but poorly executed.

Two movies of "development" that just goes in circles is a bit absurd

Darth Maul could give Vader a run for his money, but Kylo isn't even in the same league.

Darth Maul was laughable and trying WAY too hard to be cool. He had no character and just had an interesting look. Kylo at least is a compelling character who is unpredictable and looking to prove himself, no matter what it takes. Kylo is the one thing I really enjoy about the new trilogy.
