I think I know what he’s trying to say but I’m not sure I get all of it.

So by flight ergonomics I’m assuming he’s talking about the fact that it doesn’t feel like you re flying the Falcon?

Guest conflict as intentional design- I think he’s talking about the intentional design choice of making the place an aesthetically unappealing town at war. It’s the old Haunted Mansion “we’ll take care of the outisde and let the ghosts take care of the inside.”

Wow he hits them pretty hard in the beginning and end of the letter. “Ouch” and “creators need to think.” LOL

Bravo Bob

Bob's at that wonderful age where he just doesn't care about staying in Disney's good graces... and because of it, we're getting wonderful stories and bits from him that we otherwise wouldn't get. Same with Rolly, who gave us that delightful LA Times interview last year.

Of course @Travel Junkie they ll just write him off as an old man who doesn’t understand modern theme park design and what the guests really want in 2019.

Except, Bob highlights points that dissenters of the land have been reiterating for years... The land is wonderful themed design but it's not 'Disneyland', and from reading reports, fears of the Falcon experience being sub par were well founded. Bob knows themed design better than anyone, and if he's saying there's something wrong... there is.

From what I read I thought the flight controls were in real time, supposed to be super responsive in unison with the ship. I thought this would be amazing, if its true. And isn't SWGE a war ravaged planet turned into a gathering place for all kinds of criminals in the galaxy? I'm not really sure what Bob was saying, I wish he'd be more specific, other than the fact he thinks it needs lots of work. As far as the blue milk, I had no idea it took the form of a slushy....really? That is way off the mark. I guess they thought it would be a better drink in the hot summer, I don't know.

1. You do indeed have some control over the Falcon. Whether it can be characterized as "responsive" is relative. If you've every piloted a boat, the rudder is usually immediately responsive, but the ship itself lags behind due to momentum. Also, it's a ship that's "on rails" like video racing game that won't let you turn around or drive off the tracks, but, you can indeed maneuver within the track lanes.

2. The outdoor milk stand is indeed milk slushies (I think it's coconut milk... or soy?), because outdoors in warm climes. You can get the non-slushie version in Oga's.

Perhaps something that has been creeping up in recent years but I haven’t taken much notice or have been blind to. The cast members were absolutely TERRIBLE during this preview. ..... Now sure, I don’t expect treatment like I’m a god, I know people have a bad day, but in this land, the cast members moreso than ever are part of the show… and they’re failing. Other reviews have mentioned this, what gives? I recall when Carsland opened, the CMs were on fire and at the top of their game. Has that much changed since then?

Apparently it has changed since Cars Land opened.

You are just one of dozens of online reviews that continue to mention how off-putting, disinterested, or openly disgruntled the Star Wars Land CM's are in this new Billion Dollar land. The CM's in the restaurants seem to be the most notably bad, according to the many reviews.

What's terrifying about that is that this has been during the opening weeks, when the land has been on virtual lockdown with only a limited number of highly engaged and upbeat customers allowed into the land each day. They have four days left of that Utopian customer environment, and then the party is over and the masses will be allowed in at much higher numbers and rates of entry, many of whom will have no idea what they are doing or why in this new land.

And those grumpy CM's think their job is hard in June's controlled environement preview weeks??? Wait until next week and through the summer when the land goes absolutely nutso with crowds and lines, with hot summer temperatures and hot summer tempers. And the big E Ticket ride isn't even open yet to pull even more people in!

Disneyland management needs to get a hold of this problem. It's being reported too often and by smart, rational customers like yourself.

@MoonRakerSCM your review was fabulously comprehensive and informative, by the way. Thank you for taking the time to offer that to us! :)

How things will work on and after the 24th:

Things to note, Savi and Oga's are officially reservation only. You have to be in the park that day, and can book through app or website starting at 7 am, credit card required for booking.

Coconut and rice milk blend.

Sounds pretty decent. Hopefully it works well at DL and they replicate it at DHS.

My only questions are whether a Savi's reservation will allow more than one purchase per reservation, and what happens if not everybody in your party is building a saber? Do they allow one additional person to enter the land per Savi reservation?

For instance: I'm going with four friends in August. Three of us are building sabers, one is not. I hope just one of us can book the reservation for the three saber builds in one time slot and if we need land entry they will hopefully allow the fourth member of our party in as well.

I just don't think Blue Milk is "iconic" and the same goes for Pepsi Perfect. I didn't watch Star Wars and think, "I'd like to drink that beverage." Of course, I didn't recall Butterbeer when I went to Universal Studios, but they delivered a pretty good product. I mean, what's next for Star Wars? Those little breadsticks that Yoda eats?

The Star Wars franchise is the grand champion of scraping the bottom of the barrell for product tie-ins and food has never been its strong suit.
Oh I agree with you my point was if Disney was going to make it since there are hardcore fans out there who have apparntley been dying to try it for over 30 years since it is a big seller, at least make it look correctly. People want to drink what they say Luke drink in the film not a ICEE.

In other words, almost every Disney blogger out there. I've seen them all have food "look what I'm eating" portions of their videos. Its also common on Instagram too, not just Disney, people take pics of their food like crazy.
yeah but fresh baked at the end of every video says " grab a churro and be amazed at all the fun we are having" aka "look at us being able to enjory disneyland because you cant"

is there video of someone ordering a non slushi version? i would like to see how that looks. i have not heard that before. but still, the majority of guests can't get into the cantina due to 3 hour wait so it should be available at the main stand in the land since that is the one most people will be posting on their IG going "omg omg!! after all these years I finally get to have BLUE MILK!!! AAAAAAH!!!!" No, no you don't. that is not blue milk. that is slurpee son.
