So Disneyland doesn't make the world's greatest places to visit but a subland inside Disneyland does? How much did that little bit of advertising cost Disney?
I actually agree with timeā€™s assessment:

Lack of crowds is a very big draw šŸ˜‰

Ha. Okay, that's probably for the best.

:)
I will say that I tend to go stream of consciousness at times (usually while I post during work like today šŸ˜‰)...and what I was alluding to is the landā€™s are gonna be hit by the IP Situation.

Star Wars is not ā€œon a highā€...itā€™s actually the most vulnerable its been since the late 80s in many ways.

Avatar succeeded in spite of bad IP, potter succeeded because of good IP...

Star Wars is underperforming - I believe - because itā€™s caught in no manā€™s land between the 2.

After going to Disneyland...I was impressed by the build but it lacked emotional pull. Now a week past itā€™s not sticking with me.

That is a problem. I think itā€™s the choice to do ā€œsequel landā€ that is going to reduce its effectiveness.

I disagree. Any land/attraction/restaurant that is well themed and entertaining/immersive, despite whether it's IP based or unique, is what makes it effective. I'm tired of the copout that says that because GE is set in the sequel times that it is not as effective. I don't buy the excuse that if Han/Luke/Leia, etc. were in the land it would make it better....especially when the Disney fandom fights so hard to say that overuse of IP is bad for the parks. So the solution to GE is to ADD more familiar IP? Or is the solution to fix what most people are saying about lack of things to do, no entertainment, and ridiculous merch selling and high prices? In other words, bringing back all the great things that were cut by budgeting.

It has been made abundantly clear in my years on Disney message boards that all non-IP based things in the parks are successful because they are well made, not because they tie you to an already familiar IP. That's the kind of management mentality and overuse that is bothering the fandom. So, no, I don't agree that it being sequel era is what reduced its effectiveness.

It's like the left-hand of fandom wants to be spoon-fed story and familiarity, while the right-hand wants originality and the chance to learn and explore new and unfamiliar things. That's the hand I'm in (the right) and what always excited me about GE being set in Batuu. The unfamiliar is not what bothers me, but the lack of things to do and being pulled into the story.

This is all just my opinion, of course. I still enjoy the land, but it definitely can be much much better, even without adding original characters.

Lol did he just say Galaxies Edge is the highest rated land at Disneyland? LMAO. Ok so this confirms the whole GOTG:MB is the highest rated attraction at DLR thing from a couple years ago was bogus right?
How does one get a ā€œratingā€ for an amusement park land?

Is there like a Gallup poll or is it measured in highest amount of overpriced merchandise sold?

The "site that shall not be named" has a look at the concept vehicle you ride at WDW to get to Batuu from the Star Wars hotel. Basically you are getting on a bus with windows that show space outside. You can't see the driver. Kind of annoying if you want to go to Epcot. Besides, since Chappy removed all the interactivity from Baatu and probably from the hotel, this whole bus thing is completely pointless.

It's not annoying if you "want to get to Epcot". You wouldn't get on a bus going to GE if you wanted to go to Epcot. I was not annoyed that my flight to New York didn't take me to Minneapolis. That's why I got on it.

The entire point of the hotel is interactivity. And it's still years away. You have no idea what it will be like.

Do we have to rush to sh*t on everything, all the time, even years in advance of knowing what's going to actually happen?

Jeeze, this board is insufferable sometimes.
