Y'all can complain about these encounters online all you want but you're gonna have to take them to City Hall if you want something to actually get done about it.

I managed to have a heart to heart with a suit type on my second and last visit to the land after an aggressive CM altercation outside the beloved Cantina.

I hope they, and City Hall, can actually make a difference

Unexpectedly I ended up visiting SW:GE during a visit to CA. Not on my plan for many reasons, but it happened. I found the First Order section of the land very well done. Flying the Falcon (3 times) was more fun than I thought it would be. Food options good but lacking, shops great. The Resistance area was puzzling to me. Felt very incomplete and mis-imagineered. The whole land needs its mega ticket to open.

SWLs issues are an easy fix if they are willing to take on the ongoing entertainment/ streetmosphere costs. Music is free. Adding a little bit of color and moss the rock work can be done relatively cheaply. Maybe repaint some of the beige structures white. I like the white and gray scheme that came across to me on the DHS overview. Adding one waterfall in the middle of the land on the ROA side where the ROTR “Forrest” meets the bazaar is doable. The dinner theatre would be the biggest construction cost and apparently that’s already been greenlit.

Where will the dinner theater restaurant be?

I don’t give a crap about what’s happening in the films right now.

At Diagon Alley the stores aren’t all boarded up. The employees of universal studios aren’t shivering in fear because Voldemort is rising again.

Death Eaters aren’t standing on guard towers above me with guns like I’m in a prison yard.

Exactly. This is a spot on comparison - by making the incredibly poor creative choice of locking themselves into a specific timeline/place (which one could argue both are the worst they could have chosen), the have boxed themselves in vs. creating the opportunity to bring in everyone's favorite characters and celebrate the brand. Both Harry Potter lands in Florida absolutely nail this concept.

It's because of this self-imposed constraint that we've gone from:

"OMG it's the Millenium Falcon and I can't wait to fly it with Han and Chewie and go on an epic space adventure!"

to

"Hondo owns the Falcon and he needs crews to run a mission for him to Corellia to acquire coaxium".

Oh, OK.

Hey everyone I’ve arrived just in time to add some much needed negativity to this thread. It was getting a little too positive around here so I decided I need to rush my review of the cantina. First, I’ll start by saying I don’t have much to say as we only stayed there for 2 minutes.

We had 6:55 pm reservations yesterday that we kind of stupidly planned our day around. Especially annoying since we had two spontaneous family members join our already party of 6. So we were navigating between getting two one day park hopper guests on their wish list of attractions, a toddler (who has a wish list of his own) a 6 month old, child switching and planning our day around the cantina reservation. Oh ya we got to the parks at 12pm. With that said we had good time even though I got home at 2am and feel as if I was by a train today.

So we get to our reservation 4 minutes late and see a huge Line running down the pathway where Ogas is located. A guy was going up and down the line to check people in. He wasn’t rude but definitely looked frazzled and like he was in over his head. He checked us in and there were so many people asking him questions that I couldn't get an answer to my question for 10 minutes. Which was... are we waiting in this enormous line even though we have reservations? The answer was yes. As we’re waiting in the 75 person line of people who also had reservations another CM came over to us and gave us the rundown of who Oga is. She playfully tried to give us the themed rules by saying Oga is a ***** and what she’s says goes and you re only allowed to stay here 45 minutes and oh ya we don’t have any of our popular fizzy dry ice drinks. We ran out because everyone at Star Wars Land are belligerent drunks who drink before noon.

Anyway we get to the Mater Dee (don’t feel like looking it up) and he tells us that we won’t be getting a table because their are only 6 booths. 6 booths! Unless of course we want to wait longer, which could be up to another 30 minutes. Keep in mind we had already been in line 35 minutes for our 6:55 reservation. I said no we ll do the standing room only section with a toddler. So fun and relaxing!

We walk inside the cantina and over to our standing table by the entrance. I looked around and thought I counted 7 booths. Anyway what a fail! 6 booths for this place when they knew what the demand would be!? Then If you are lucky enough to get a booth and don’t have a large party you get sat with strangers. Chapek, you re a BUM. That dinner theatre can’t come fast enough.

As for the the design of the cantina, I think it’s great. One of the only places in the land that has energy and makes you really feel like you are somewhere Star Warsian outside of the Falcon exterior queue and bazaar/ Rontos. DJ Rex looks so damn cool in there! Better than I was expecting.

We STOOD at our “table” for a couple minutes and another CM reminds us they re out of all their signature drinks. We look at each other and say, (paraphrasing here), “ok we saw it, let’s get the hell out of here, I’m not giving them any of money to stand here and try one of their less popular drinks.”

We then went to ride Falcon. Of course pilot again. I don’t play around. When we exited the ride it was dark. The land is MUCH nicer at night. The blue lighting on the rock work outside the Falcon looks great and all of that dryness and beigness goes away. From now on I’m visiting SWL at night only. Kind of like my policy with riding BTMRR.

Here’s a couple quick pics I took of the cantina and SWL at night...

Great write up. it does look better at night because the land finally has some color for once. you maybe onto something with your night only policy.

I rode the Falcon finally. I liked the two floor queue and loved the hondo animatronic (though the queue felt very quiet and still for the most part). As for the ride, it was pretty much exactly how I thought it would be, a bit underwhelming. I was right pilot and the jump to light speed didn't do anything for me (tbf I'll add that I was expecting it to feel like the best thing ever, because that's what I kept reading and hearing online), and piloting it up and down was not as responsive/sensitive as I thought. The screen looked kinda blurry. I liked exiting the ride and having the time to just stay inside the falcon longer to take more pictures before leaving. Had it been the only ride I rode that day, I probably would've liked it more. But I rode pirates right after, and I was amazed at how much more enjoyable that was for me than Smugglers. I don't think simulator rides do it for me at all, but maybe I'll change my mind when I ride FOP. I cannot wait for ROTR to open!

For the land, seeing the outpost side in person was better than looking at it online. I didn't have too much of a problem with the color in person, and the details impressed me more. But the forest side still feels weird and kinda bland in person, and it was empty and still except for one specific spot where Chewbacca was standing with a huge crowd of people surrounding him lol (I'll play devil's advocate and say maybe they made that area so bland because it's supposed to be some sort of hideout ha). I still want there to be music throughout the land, not just at the entrance/exits.

Also I didn't go to the land at night, big mistake lol.

An aggressive CM altercation outside the Cantina??? Let me guess, there was a hostess or two on the verge of a nervous breakdown snapping at paying customers who dare approach them with a reservation to go spend 20 bucks per beverage at a theme park bar? I observed that exact CM demographic and alarmingly bad work performance outside the Cantina back in June when the land was mostly deserted, and I was hoping that Disneyland management could have gotten those Cantina CM's the mental health care they so desperately need.

Mix it up, have some Star Wars fun.

I think that's part of the problem. WDI and TDA and Disneyland management have all taken this Star Wars Land thing so seriously.

The original Star Wars movies from 40 years ago had some wit and snarky humor, but the new movie I saw in 2015 had no humor except for the Han Solo and Chewbacca interactions. But by the end of that 2015 movie they killed Han Solo and made Chewbacca cry. And ever since then the Star Wars movies seem to be devoid of wit and humor, and the WDI and TDA execs in charge of getting that into the park seem unable to laugh at themselves and lighten things up a bit.

The results speak for themselves and how a growing list of visitors are feeling about the place.

Would it kill them to laugh and have some fun here? It's just a theme park. Lighten up, kids.

Why is Disney so serious and strict now??? They know they are just running theme parks and not end-of-life hospice care, right?
