Something interesting I heard tonight while watching the most recent episode of "The Star Wars Show". The host mentions that we will be able to stay in the hotel in the "months" following the opening of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge.
Not sure if this really means the hotel will be open that quickly after the land but it would be great news if accurate.

I don't see it that way. I don't know a single person, aside from people posting here, who thinks this is a good idea. Normal Star Wars fans, like myself, have no desire to play dress up for 2/3/4 days. It sounds torturous.

No clue where you are getting that comically low 2-3k number from either.

Look, maybe I'm wrong. Disney obviously thinks they have a winning idea here. In the short term, they probably do. Medium to long term, I just don't see it.
A few years ago people thought Steve Jobs was nuts for creating the iPad. There were tons of people who mocked the idea of a large iPhone without the phone capability. It was a luxury item without a need. Now look.

Disney knows what it is doing. I personally don't have an issue with a 2 to 3k price point for a truly immersive experience. Of course, it would be more attractive if they package it with some other resort stay to keep people in the parks longer.

So, this is an iPad?

Conceptually - yes
I think this is a pretty good point. As far as themed entertainment, this is as close to a blue ocean strategy there is. Let's face it there can still be groundbreaking new attractions and worldbuilding in theme parks but this takes it to a new level. Sure there are places around the country(by me that have a wild West City and a renaissance faire), where you walk into an a completely different world full of cosplaying and period entertainment. But we have not seen it done to a level of a 100s of millions of dollars investment. This I could see as the theme park of the future.

Also, people thought Frans von Soxhlet was a nut when he first suggested that milk made available for public consumption be pasteurized. Now, he's pushing up daisies.

How would you meme back then? Construction paper?

That's how I do it now. I assume you all can see my memes when I hold them in front of the monitor.

But, to make a point actually based on the topic at hand (I'm a 47 year old man who saw Star Wars over 40 times in the theater or at the drive in over the course of 60-65 weeks when it was in theaters the the first time), I'm uncertain at the success of this venture. The devil will be in the details. I'm really curious to see official price points and how this is actually going to work.

More like the step after VR rides.

Everyone does interactive/completely themed queues/lands now. Whether it be Gringotts or Peter Pan. Some interact more, some less. But this is the next logical step, in that it's not just the scenery and animatronics that interact in theme, but the people as well. This is Disney thinking way beyond the current box, and into "what can we pull off that they haven't even thought of yet?"

Less 'Westworld' and more I think like Larry Niven's 'Dream Park' which would be amazing if Disney can pull it off, Disney in the Nineties could have, Today's Imagineers not sure they are up to the task

https://www.amazon.com/Dream-Park-Larry-Niven/dp/0441167306

They may be. (And yes, I immediately thought DreamPark when this came out.. though I used both that and westworld as references.. simply because more people know about Westworld at the moment).

Never forget.. Disney imagineers are just as nerdy as we are.. and quite a few are probably massive SW geeks. If there's anything they (and the resources they have with Lucasfilm) can bring to life.. it's this.

Naw, remember Bob said "Theme parks are a mature business"..Nothing new can be done with them so we just move along. Nothing to see....

He is running the show after all.
