The problem is not in the product. I haven't been but I only heard great things.

The issue is that they are charging $6k for 2 days to enjoy it! (2 people will pay around $5k but it's still massive per capita for 2 days).
So even for those who can afford it and enjoy it so much as to be repeat guests, my opinion is that at some point it's just gonna be too hard to see the value.

As a side note, I do like STAR WARS / Sci-Fi in general and role-playing, and with some effort I can save money to do that without having to suffer on my essentials (would cut back / postpone other luxuries but I can stomach that). But with 2 little ones that are not old enough to enjoy and my DW not being a big fan, unfortunately it's a hard pass. I can save less than that and do something else that is longer and we can all enjoy (even a regular Disney trip).
Where DHs logic is, the price it is, people will still have to choose between park visits and possibly missing the hotel activities and in essence giving up money paid. Even at 1500 less for 3 of us, it would be more what personally feel is reasonable.

They are a lot of fun, especially if you like puzzles / riddles and go with friends.
Yes. And I brought up escape rooms because they are another example of innovation in immersive entertainment that suffers from lack of familiarity. Many who have experienced them in them understand and seem to enjoy. But lots of people are like, "I don't know what that is, but I don't want to pay money to be locked in a room!"

Those people also say things like, "What happens if you have to use the bathroom in the middle of the experience?" and probably (if this thread has taught us anything), "Why isn't there a pool?"

Don't guests know this going into it?

And I know exactly what an escape room is. Down to the tiniest detail. I still don't want to do that either. It doesn't have anything to do with me not understanding how it works. Not everybody on this planet is a moron.

I understand it just fine. I understand it enough to know that it's not something I want to do in its current form. Thank you for making the assumption though. 😉
Sorry, maybe I should have written, "This post indicates to me that you may not understand some key things about the Galactic Starcruiser experience."

It's designed as a multi-act show. The story is what the experience is. But you wrote:
This thing might be fun and maybe something I would do if they did not have iteneraries and try to push you through interacting with a story.
Without a story, it'd be like wandering around on a theater set with no actual production.

Also, everything is optional for guests; no one is forced to do anything, and guests have lots of flexibility in how they choose to participate. So when you wrote:
Leave me alone and let me experience the place the way I'd like to experience it and I would go.
It mades it sound like you don't realize that guests are encouraged to experience it however they want to experience it. Some guests watch, some get into the puzzles, some role play.

You don't have to like what the Starcruiser is (or how much it costs!), but your comment made it seem like you don't understand the above. Sorry if I misunderstood.

A lot of very good discussion going on, but the way current administration is operating don't be upset if this goes the way of the NBA experience.

Clearly, something needs to happen to this thing.

Rework it and plus it up, lower the prices on the current version, or shutter it.

If these cruises are truly operating at 25- or 15-percent capacity, I wonder if it changes the experience itself. Part of the fun has to be interacting with other guests who are on the ship, right? If not interacting, then at least getting that crowd buzz, like the difference between going to a movie where there are five other people in the theater and going to a movie where there's a full crowd who are all super excited. And how embarrassing is it if you're in the cast and you're playing against such a small audience? What if they can't fill up some of the storylines? Do the cast members just hang out if they're not wanted?

That said, maybe it's actually more fun because there are no crowds and you get more personal attention? I just finished watching Jenny Nicholson's video about Evermore, which is this sort of failing Renn Faire theme park where the performers were encouraged to get really involved with each other and certain guests because there just wasn't much else to do. Maybe you could get the complete Gaya comeback concert or the smuggler could tell you about how his marriage broke down because his wife fell in love with one of the Jedi. Get REALLY into the storyline for that $5k. If I was making pre-inflation money, I might actually consider it...

I'll simply say the amount of people at both our muster and finale was such that I wondered if it was truly safe to be in the atrium. I wouldn't have minded it to be 30% less crowded. (certainly Disney would've minded)

(though looking back, it seemed more crowded than the picture shows - there's a lot of people behind me though, for sure)

Here's another example of how crowded it can get in the atrium...

(the saja there is giving my son some secret instructions)

I guess my point here is that it can almost be too crowded to have personal interactions sometimes. Our favorite times were lingering around after meals in the dining room or passing through the Atrium in slow periods (I had a great secret chat with Lenka and Raithe doing just that).

That is a very good point! Your photos do show a crowd that seems to be 25% too crowded.

The tell is when they show marketing pics for anything, Disney always has the park or hotel lightly busy but nothing like the crowd levels of your photos. You need people to be there with you to give a space and experience life and energy, but your photos show things a tad too crowded for perfection.

That said, I just took this screen shot of the availability of Galactic Starcruiser heading into the holiday season. The parks are packed on both coasts right now, but you can still get reservations for this weekend?!? And with the exception of the two weeks around Christmas and Thanksgiving week (DEFCON 1 in the parks!), the place is wide open.

This can't have been what they were planning for during its first Christmas season...

Where's Ann Morrow??? 🤔

Heck, they still have availability for tomorrow afternoon! o_O

Does "available" refer to one room, or multiple rooms?

It depends. It’s sold on people capacity/rooms, which ever fills up first.
Right. So you can see that "Look! The booking site shows availability!" could indicate anything from:

"There is one (perhaps the most expensive) room available on each cruise through the rest of the year!"
and
"They don't have a single cabin booked between tomorrow and the end of the year!"

So "This thing is an utter failure!" might be a bit premature and uninformed?
