Ooook then what does the Star Cruiser Experience provide that a Fan LARPING experience weekend on Batuu couldn't? If its fans doing it for themselves and other fans don't need the Star Cruiser, Batuu will do just fine.

That wasn't the post I was responding to. See the comment:
"Walt did not expect his paying guests to become an actor in that living show and pretend to help..."

Embracing fan culture or encouraging imagination is not the company trying to substitute fan imagination for show.

I have emailed them my suggestions to improve the transport to Batuu and make it a real experience.

Millions of people go on cruises or on other ocean traveling boats every year, stay in rooms with no windows, and walk down hallways with no outside views. While there are plenty of cases of seasickness, the vast majority do just fine.

A Cruise liner is much larger than a boat makes a difference there. Much more people are getting sick on boats to yachts than on a cruise ship. Star Tours effects people more than turbulent flights for the same reason.

All of you complaining about the $6,000+ price tag - I assume you are not going to the Superbowl either?
Lots of other people are and will pay these prices for 3 hours.
  • No Food included
  • No rooms included
  • No transportation included

Superbowl is a one time thing every year.

Also, aren't those prices reseller prices?
Because I sure as hell would never touch that crap.. 20,000? what are they smoking?

Uhhhh no. The Super Bowl is not just another football game. That said, I much prefer to stay home with my family and enjoy, BBQ, wings and other party food Beer / whatever beverages wear comfortable clothing, not deal with crowds and totally enjoy the game on wide screen T.V. (with commentary, instant replay and detail). There are many who like the crowds and atmosphere at such events, the look at me I am here bunch, I say enjoy. Me, myself and I plus friends and family get plenty of enjoyment / fun plus don't pay the exorbitant prices to see the event.
You are correct though about exclusivity people cannot sit at home and enjoy the Star Cruiser experience on T.V., have to be there.
To me it is - just another football game.
All hype, and not usually a very good game at that.
Then again, I'm a guy who considers all team sports mostly useless.

Whole reason I joined the forum was to try and glean info from others going, but it seems I'm the only idiot. If so, I will gladly report back with my tumults from the Star War.
There were people who had booked and were very vocal in discussions earlier on.

Most seem to have dropped out of the conversation.

I don't know if it's because they changed their minds after seeing more details on what they would be getting or they simply got tired of debating things and left the conversation so they could still try to have a good time on their trip while not worrying about if the back of the box truck felt like the back of a box truck or not after reading 20 pages of us speculating and debating that sort of stuff.* 🤷‍♂️

*if it's the later, I can't say I blame 'em.

There are facebook groups you can join with people that are excited and bouncing ideas off each other.
Some of those groups take the “let’s obsess and take it too seriously…to the point of exhaustion” pioneered on Disney fan sites such as this, mix it in a blender with misinformation, and then put it on superblast.

there are a lot of things stated as fact about Disney product and operations from those groups that are 1000% wrong.

Probably the former…a lot were predicting/suggesting that there was a lot more beings spent on them with this that doesn’t appear to be anywhere in sight just weeks out.

So you never get lost in a good book or immersed in a film? You never forget yourself in a good bit of entertainment?
You never pretend?
I honestly can't say it enough, "perhaps theme parks aren't for you."
There is a gap about as big as the Grand Canyon between riding Star Tours and going "Wheeee, I'm in outer space!" on a ride for three minutes vs. dressing up, taking on a character's name, voice, and backstory, and pretending to be somebody else in a fictional play world for hours/days on end.

Trying to even remotely compare the two is disingenuous rationalizing at best.
