Lipstick on a pig at this point. Disney's internal tests did not go well for the hotel... they know they have a problem, and they'll be looking for a fix within a year.

Just curious, what is the likelihood this ends up a "regular" hotel soon? With more moderate prices?

Do you get the sense that the Imagineers who designed it and the Marketeers who are now shilling it understand how cringey and hokey their messaging has been on this thing? And that people are laughing at them?

Yes, we've all been underwhelmed with the few bits of actual hard product they have shown us (Josh at lightsaber training, Josh pushing blinky buttons on the bridge, that Godlberg kid listening to a nobody singer in the bar, that Goldberg kid wandering the halls of what looks like a new Hampton Inn, etc.). But what has given most of us a bad taste in our mouth is the chronically high levels of cringe the underwhelming product has been presented with.

Is there anyone who understands they've got to hire new people to produce a marketing message that is not painfully cringey? Or is that the least of their worries as they struggle to salvage an inherently flawed product?

Even without the role-playing, there are those who would pay $$$$ to get to stay overnight that close to the park and shuttle into/out of GE. That concept was proven in Paris and DLR at the Grand Californian.
Except the StarCruiser isn't anything like the Grand Californian.
Don't most cruise ships have pools?
Yes. Surprised this is even a question. Do space ships have pools? Excluding holodeck. Comparing the starcruiser to a cruise isn't exact. The point is meals and entertainment is included.

Cruise ships are having Covid issues. Breakthrough cases. Port stops being skipped. Guests on the starcruisers are in somewhat close quarters. Covid infections is not a cruise experience Disney wants to replicate on board.

Most hotels have pools. That might be an issue if Disney wanted to convert the starcruiser to more of a regular hotel.

And I left out the most obvious similarity... $$$$$

May I put my Tin foil conspiracy hat on? Just for a second? Does anyone else think they'll push back the opening date and no longer open in March? With the rise of Covid and Omicron variant, do you think Disney wants people to be lock down together for 2 to 3 days? Maybe that's why it wasn't advertise on the Christmas Parade. Okay. I'll remove my Tin foil conspiracy hat.
D23 Damero announced Make-A-Wish families would be among the first guests. Disney had some bad press about dropping Make-A-Wish trips due to covid, don't think they'd want a repeat.

Without the storyline, I would be willing to pay around 2k for the 3 in my family to stay 2 nights. But that would still include admission, meals, and the activities. Transportation hours would definitely have to improve though. I understand the cutoff time is to have all guests back for the storyline. Looking at the itinerary the "guest" is in SWGE from 8:25am-12:40pm. Does that mean guests won't get early entry to HS?

I'd hate to think that Halcyon guests wouldn't get near-exclusive early morning access to RotR and MF:SR. At the very least, they should get priority boarding since they're paying so much for the privilege.

They are even allowing CMs a one time chance to reverse their transfers to Star Cruiser and go back to previous roles.
Why would they do that? You'd think they'd want all hands on deck (ha ha) for this, even if it only lasts a little while. The only reason I can think of is that conditions at Starcruiser specifically are so bad that CMs are just quitting Disney altogether. There's probably something I'm missing, though.

CMs have to take the offer to go back immediately so replacements can be transferred and trained before opening. This is only being offered to food and beverage CMs. Tipped roles are worried about lack of opportunity to make money after bad word of mouth and early training.

Maybe 2k a night, 1k a night is pretty standard now for the monorail resorts, preferred view rooms and that’s without any of those perks.

Wait, at $6k a night there's not gratuity included for the servers? They were really going to work for tips alone? And who's going to be the replacements if the first round of internal replacements are quitting?

Do the tipped roles include servers at dinner? Unless ordering specialty drinks or food, would a guest even receive a bill? It's not like Disney is going to disclose how much per person they charge for the standard included dinner. It would be hard for me to know what to tip a server in that situation.
Also with valet included, maybe less likely to receive tips?

I was thinking by summer 2023 we'll see this pop up as a general hotel reservation option for guests, with the cantina type bar becoming a functional Oga's meets Trader Sam's.

Having read WDW Pro's article, it's simply having Darth Vader walk down the halls (which actually sounds like a decent idea, doing your own little Rogue One. Only with slightly fewer fatalities.)
Having some well known rebels "check in" in the ship and acting like they are meeting with someone important would help as well.

Even something as simple as putting a message in an android could help too.

I hear Ronto Roasters is opening a franchise.
Kinda scary to order food there.. who knows what Ronto might have used in their dishes.. "mystery meat" is a thing.

I find this strange. Because Cruises usually either pre-charge you for all the tips.. or they ask you to deliver the tips with a minimum by the end of your cruise.
