Yeah, I would think they would at least have that choice.

Did you read my previous responses to you?
Do you agree with either of them?
I think you're a better mom than most of the Star Wars parents you're talking about. Most of them aren't on the blogs and message boards ready to book this thing the second it goes live. The fanboy nerds like me are going to book it all up no matter how willing the parents would otherwise be.

What I'm saying is- I have a fanboy brother, I have a fanboy nerd cousin.. and I have fanboy nerd friends.. maybe they aren't on online message boards.. but they've read all of the stupid books etc and have been obsessed since childhood.. annnndddd they go to Disney every year. So maybe not the highest geek level, but pretty darn close.

Add to that the parents like me, who got back into SW once their kids were old enough, and even more so when Episode 7 came out.. our children eat and breathe SW.

I'm not saying parents will be booking solely for their children.. I'm talking the 30something to 40something group.. who were fans of the originals, and now share that with their kids.

I think there's more of me and my peeps than you think.

I think you're misunderstanding. I think that there are plenty of you-type people who are more than ready and willing to book this. I just think that the me-type people are going to be faster on the draw and we'll fill it up before the you-type people remember to check availability between soccer practice and Cub Scouts. ;-)

Ohhhhhh. Soccer Mom dig.

Too far..

We'll see. I'll post my reservation when I beat you to it. I've accepted the challenge.

Just watched the D23 video that announced this. All I can say is there is some WILD speculation that has and will continue to occur regarding what exactly will be a part of this "immersion" during your stay at this "resort".

If nothing else, this thread should be very entertaining as the details are debated among the SW fanbois.

Link to presentation at D23...

Yep, totally with you here.

So "luxury resort" = pool, gym, different places to eat etc etc

"Opportunity to put on the right attire"

"Opportunity to experience ....."

100% immersion means the whole place is themed, there are activities going on all the time. But not that there are no normal facilities like lounges etc. Not that you must participate all the time. Not that you can't get cola, popcorn, cup cakes when you want. And not that you can't do your own thing.

It would be a waste of money if you didn't join in some stuff. But there will be less enthusiastic "participants" than some people here! Kids will get bored, tired, cranky, take your pick. So will the tag along 2nd parent, who likes the films and hates Jar Jar Binks but cannot remember the name of the planet in Galaxy Edge (and really doesn't care ) ;).

The debate will run and run. Until more details are released. :p

Why would "disinterested observer" pay that kind of money to stay at this place?

Because they're there with the rest of their family. That's what families do on vacation, especially at Disney. Maybe not totally disinterested, but willing to play along for a couple of hours, then go chill and rejoin for dinner and some more interaction and role playing.

Serious question for all of the serious Star Wars Nerds in this thread--

Are all of your spouses just as obsessed as you are?

No one is saying you're forced to role-play. No one is saying you can't take a nap. No one is saying you can't leave. No one is saying you can't be a wall flower and just observe. Stop arguing as if they are.

We're saying if you come to do that... and not participate in the role-play at all... at. all. Then you're just wasting your money. And you're taking up the space of someone who would have wanted to participate and made the experience better for everyone there.

Actually plenty of people here are saying just that. Ignoring the fact that families will be staying together, with different interest levels. There are some who are arguing this is a forced march kind of thing and they will not let you out of the front door.

Mom, Dad, 2 kids. Mom not that keen on being surrounded by mini Jedi and 6ft nerds, but willing to go with it for a couple of days. Have some fun on the battle deck, help unmask the rebel spy, and then have a few cocktails and a swim.

Something to keep in my is the standard room would be around $1,250 a night for a family of 4. I can't imagine what other larger-scale rooms and/or services may cost that will be targeted for the rich.

*Smashes head against the wall.*

There. Is. No. Front. Door. Because. It's. A. Space. Ship. Not. A. Hotel.

Mom only has to go with it for a couple of days because it only lasts a couple of days. Haven't any of you people been in an escape room? Or watched Westworld? "Hotel" has nothing to do with it. You don't drive to Applebee's or pop over to the Polynesian for dinner. There's no "different interest levels" because you're signing up for "intense interest level." I don't care if that's not how you want it, that's the product they're creating.

Well no, it's a luxury resort according to the presentation I just watched and replied to a little time back. And resorts have ways in and out.

Space pod bay door then? The way we entered. What if I "left my insulin in the car"? Is the guard on the door going to risk not letting me leave? THIS IS DISNEY! THIS IS NOT CONSCRIPTION.

Escape rooms are an hour to 90 minutes. My team finished in 47 minutes. Not seen Westworld, not here in the UK.

And I'm not heading off to MK, just to ride Star Tours. The presentation simply said "the opportunity to" ....

You don't get it and I'm done trying to explain it. Obviously they're not going to forbid you from getting medication but you're wrong when you said "IT'S DISNEY." It's not Disney. Not in any way you'd know or recognize. It's not going to be a normal part of the experience to be coming and going.

.....but it will have a gym. And a pool.
