I think it’s fun that the actual shape of the building is not so unlike the concept art of what the “ship” looks like. Usually in Star Wars it can take some convoluted architecture to fit the indoor, on-screen ship locations into floor plans in coffee-table books, and I feel like they’re definitely winking to that here. The fans are obsessed with cut-away models, and you could conceivably do that quite accurately in this hotel. Luckily there’s no need for a real space for the crew to sleep.

Definitely a work in progress ... it doesn't look even a tiny bit like the concept art. Looks like a suburban ice skating rink with a curling rink at the back and a coffin in front ...

The overall shape can be fixed and details can be added but it looks like the sloping windows in the middle 1/3 of the model won't be there. Let me guess ... "Sci Fi dreams ... meet FL climate..."

I am not sure is this is meant to be a joke or not. The building will not look anything like the ship since you will never actually see most of the exterior . The only part you will see is the entrance which will also look nothing like the ship since the idea is that you are arriving at a ground station and then being transported in some way up to the orbiting cruiser.

The point is, once inside the building, I can imagine being in this “spaceship” that has a hammerhead-type shape.

Not a joke. I missed the caveat stating that it will not look anything like the ship model. Nevertheless it appears to be true.

For sure. I have to get over my surprise that only from certain angles on the outside when you are approaching in your shuttle, will you have the illusion of a spaceship sitting there parked on the ground.

I don’t think you’ll be able to see it from the shuttle. All part of the illusion. You’ll only see the docking bay when you arrive.
That’s how I thought this worked too. You are pulling up in a car so it wouldn’t make sense to have a building shaped like a ship on the ground. You enter the docking bay and board a “shuttle” which launches you into space and docks with the ship. I assume the shuttle won’t have any views of the hotel building itself, if anything maybe screen based fake windows showing your approach to the ship. Any time you leave or enter the ship that’s how it will probably work. Should be relatively easy to maintain the illusion that way.

And the same can apply to the shuttles to and from Batuu.

Yep, they need to maintain the illusion throughout or it ruins the immersion. If you left the resort in a Minnie Uber to get to DHS That wouldn‘t work ;). I would hope the shuttle to Batuu has no real windows either. Nobody wants to see a parking lot.

It would have been cool if they could have made the ship so it was floating above, kinda like the Avatar mountains. Actually that would be really cool in the land itself. Imagine a giant ship hovering above the land.

More interesting to me is how you are going to get into the park from the hotel physically - from the overhead (and certainly the proximity) it would seem to have the potential to be a short journey, but there's no straight-line path as currently constructed. I wonder what they'll do.
