I really hope so. I don't want the plebs gawking at me and ruining it. It's bad enough at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Can I pay to watch a live stream of the activities? LOL

Maybe not so funny...I just gave some TDO bean counter another idea for a potential revenue stream.

Sorry, I crossed you with bairstow.

But I'm not really following your concerns. Group arrives on site, drops off luggage, enters staging area. Guests are checked in, and mingle around in themed 'spaceport' until they are transported to the ship. Once on the ship, maybe rooms aren't available until later so staff have more time to turnover rooms.

In the meantime, guests exiting the resort go through a different spaceport 'arrivals' area and the handling of transportation/etc is done.

Like the cruise ship, you don't have to have access to your room for your adventure to start.

Fair enough. If they have enough to do before rooms are ready, it would work. But it would also mean more things available for guests to do than just the 'normal' length of stay.

Considering most Disney E ticket attractions deal with something that goes wrong, I'm guessing the storyline for this will be:
We are all boarding a galactic transport, similar to the Titanic, meaning that there will be different levels of staterooms for middle class, wealthy, and lower class guests and we will be traveling from a planet similar to Earth to someplace else on day 1. During that day we'll become familiarized with the ship, enjoy dinner, and some other activities. As the evening progresses after our ship launches, as guests we will start to see some evidence that some of the other guests aren't exactly what they say they are. We may be "recruited" to one side or the other. Some of those guests will be found to be part of the resistance at some point or at least accused of that. On day 2 our ship will be captured and boarded by the First Order, at which point First order officers, charters (Kylo Ren) will be on board and search the ship, possibly having all guests gather in some large room. The Resistance will eventually come and rescue us and escort to their new base on the Galaxy's Edge. We'll all depart in the evening and those more sympathetic to the Resistance will go and find the Resitance base and have another experience and those sympathetic to the First Order will do something similar. We'll all then be able to explore the land before going back to our ship and departing again. I could be waaaaay off but that's just my guess. In between I think we'll all be able to do other things that you would do on a cruise ship like take some drink or cooking classes, or learning about midichlorians, finding your inner jedi, etc.

It has literally nothing to do with the cost and 100% to do with immersion. If they're going to do this like I think they're going to do this, there won't be any Dasani bottled water or Uncrustables or Bowflex machines to be found.
I like where your brain is at. However, I am going to be reserved until at the very least more concept art and information is released.

The people using the gym will be less concerned about immersion and more concerned about getting away from their lightsaber-obsessed kids for five minutes.

There's two extremes for sure. You have the people who's time at Disney World will be the most physical activity they've ever done in one day.

But then you have the other people who are running every morning, using the gyms.. or, like 3 families who were staying on our floor at GF- did their Beachbody Insanity Max workout every morning in the hallway..using one of their BOB strollers to prop up the iPad. Those women were out there every day, it was awesome.. I love Beachbody, but I wasn't going to join them.lol.

Point being, yes- many people want to work out or run, even on a short trip.

Yep.. Ive done DDPYoga in a Disney resort room. I get it.

I just get the feeling this is way more oriented to "it's a star wars experience, that happens to be in a hotel" rather than "it's a hotel that happens to have some star wars theming".

Yes, its the former. Having a gym doesn't break the experience though.

On the cruise, once you've boarded and your room's not ready you can go eat at the buffet or go for a swim. Both of which might be possible here depending.

A 100% guest only policy would mean no "base station" as you described. It would mean a security gate that you would be turned around at if you were not staying at the resort. End of story.
Ok, I wasn't counting people driving around as relevant :)

They might turn people away simply due to traffic/etc.. or tell people there is no public spaces back there. But I have to imagine Disney having some sort of 'sales center' on property. The big issue is would you want to deal with the crowd levels that alone could generate. Which is why I kind of thought about the DVC kiosk/sales center idea. You don't need to let people into the real resort to pitch this.

Just watching the video they produced.. most people would be running for their wallets :)

It is always possible, but I just don't see Disney going that far.

Due to the nature of this resort, traditional ground transportation might not be offered. In other words, if you want to visit the base station/lobby/whatever check-in ends up being, you'll need a car, cab, or Minnievan to make it over.

Not at all. This is going to book solid for years as soon as its available. There won't be any need for 'sales' onsite.

No way will this be built without a gym.

You guys can tag me and blast me if I'm wrong.

Too many people will not go that long without exercise.

I already said I'm sure there will be a gym. And they won't stop you from exercising.

I'm saying that you paid for an indepth experience. You have to prioritize. If you want to exercise and not participate in the event you spent $2,000, go right ahead. If you want to do both, then get up at 5 AM.

If you want to go for a swim, fine. Do so. Every moment you swim is a moment you're not participating in the $2,000 event you paid for. You have to prioritize and what you chose is up to you.

Ordu Aspectu

Went to Wookipedia. Didn't see anything about Ordu being intergalactic.

I'm not understanding what you meant. I'm not trying to debunk anything. My point is that it doesn't make sense to have people sitting around the lobby (which you can't do on a cruise ship) while you wait for your room. Maybe they will have no off-days. Its possible. Just a lot more feasible to do it with an off-day in between. Especially since you're going to be hiring CMs more as 'actors' for this, and they aren't working 7 days a week.

On a cruise ship, while you wait for your room, you walk around. You listen to the jazz band. You hang out in a lounge. You play cards with your group. I'm presuming that the SWResort will have lots of common areas: lounge, cargo hold, pool deck, observation deck, etc... You can start getting in character and chatting with the CM and other guests. There not going to keep 300 people standing around in a lobby waiting for your room to be ready. And if the experience comes with access to SW:GE, you hop over there and come back at 3 PM for the beginning of the resort events.

Not even just that.. even the Star Wars fans will need to take a break from the Extreme Fanatic guests for a few minutes ;).

They should offer packages by making you take a quiz first.. then group accordingly. ;)

I don't want to be stuck in a group with someone like @CaptainAmerica. No lie, I'm not well versed enough to keep up with the super geeks. Plus, they probably don't want someone like me on their team anyway.
But I'd be fine drinking with them at a bar later.

I just don't think the activities are going to run 7am-11pm. I think you'll have time in the morning to fit a workout in. So it's not really conflicting with the overall purpose.

From the main WDWMagic page on this announcement: "It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits."

Not sure what is unclear about that.

You think they are going to have a "check in" station at 7am every morning? I say no way.
It will be a reasonable time.
