Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker Reactions: SPOILERS

So you’re both saying that it was a throwaway character?

Yeah...so we all are saying it’s a throwaway character?

That’s the PROBLEM! they all are toss away because none are fleshed out. We have no believable characters (within the context of their universe)...due to no backstories. Not even the “mains”. Ren is the slight exception.

It is a monolithic corporate entity and majority rules. That will dictate what we get as fans consumers.

So no more last jedis. Period.

How can we not make that disadvantageous? Become the majority. Drive where it goes with our money and voices.

Now I’ve told you how the game ends. Or we go along with crap and get more crap.
As you bow to the brine of Disney, just remember: you get what you deserve.

I think we got what we allowed them to do...

They had the idea that anything Star Wars would be accepted. Even though history begs to differ.

The standard crew of fools ran interference while they shot themselves in the keester.

Far from infallible...TWDC makes some ridiculous screw ups

Still, I don't have a particular issue with her name being withheld, even if she was a "no one" in the end. It's still valid to have that mystery lead to that answer.
I agree. I had no problem with them not giving her last name. Just don't hype it up that it is some big lineage reveal thats all. You are right, they should have picked an arc for Rey and stuck with it. And that is why so many have been so critical of Kennedy, including myself.

No...we got what a clueless couple of rooms in San Francisco and Burbank were told THEY wanted.

I hope they have learned...there’s a lot of money to be made in an epic comeback
As The Mandalorian is showing. People want quality characters and stories not the terrible, soon to be forgotten Disney Saga.

The more people whine about “not my Star Wars” and “don’t do that”, you get neutered products. You get Rise of Skywalker. You get creatively bankrupt trash like the live action remakes.

You get what you deserve.

So we deserved disjointed crap??

Because that’s what KK has produced.

In perusing the trades...I noticed a couple of articles laying down a cover story...saying Kennedy is “in a unique position...because she was lucas’s Person who was charged with completing the skywalker arc”

He did indeed. He also met an unceremonious end in Jedi. Phasma surrenders because three other people have guns trained on her.

They're both minor characters with pros and cons, and Fett in particular is beloved by the fandom for his cool factor. Is there much point in nit picking over which character was handled better, other than to cite them as a reason to justify criticism of certain films?

Say what you want about either character, how I feel about Empire, Jedi, Awakens, or Last Jedi has little to do with either of them.

Fett:
The idea of an galaxy bounty hunter hired gun.. that even vader turns to? bad
Cool weapons...
new unique armor...
Has his own unique ship to what we've seen prior...
Bests the heros...
Uhhh ROCKET ON YOUR BACK? What kid didn't think that was cool

Phasma:
Over hyped and then practically meaningless character role
Cool deco - but not really unique outfit
Besides the polish.. much like the other stormtroopers
Supposed to be feared... gets trumped easily
Is suddenly a female inserted in what was a boys club for no explained reason
No lore even hinted at, let alone told...

Fett is the great example of an organic hit because of things listed above. Phasma is an example of a corporate plug that goes over like a fart in an elevator.

Funny enough, I'd think the last jedi lovers and haters could unite over a hatred of how the trilogy was handled overall. No matter what you think of the last jedi, it's obvious there was no plan for how 7 would lead to 8 and 8 to 9.

I just think it’s funny how those “acquainted” with Disney now say she was “lucas’s girl”...when just few months ago the same were hinting she went “full heel” on Lucas for the good of the franchise.

Just a tangled...but somewhat obvious...web that has been weaved.

Agreed. I'm not really sure why some keep defending Kennedy. If someone truly loves last jedi, then you should be upset with Kennedy for how this all was handled. Same goes for force awakens. If there is one thing we should all demand as a fanbase, is that stories are thought though and what ever time is needed they are given.

They don’t care about Kennedy - it’s a knee jerk reaction to criticism of the terrible Disney Saga as she made her self the defiant icon of the SJW’s and started the spin that all criticism is based on fanboys not wanting movies with strong women (Leia anyone?), people of color (Lando, Mace Windu, Mandalorian, Rogue One cast, hello?), and all of the other made up nonsense.

So their defense of Kennedy is really a defense against their imagined attack on their SJW virtue signaling. They just refuse to accept we think the Disney Saga sucks because it so obviously sucks.

TLJ is a strange movie to me it feels like maybe it should have been Episode IX and maybe TROS should have been VIII. Lots of things in TLJ feel very final. Snoke and Lukes death. Rey's parentage seemingly being revealed. The final duel between Rey and Ren. Introducing the idea of other Jedi / force users with broom kid etc.
