Well, it's an eye-catching headline, but has Stan Lee produced anything relevant since, say...1974?

This man is a genious. I am sure that this will end up being huge for Disney. I would anticipat seeing a whole lot of his stuff ending up in The Studios. Im thinking along the lines of themeing for coasters, etc.....

Disney has Power Rangers and Star Wars characters and thats pretty much it for comic book action type characters. This could target a very significant under serviced group of people that Disney has been targeting recently with their Nightmare Before Christmas Character etc....

Another thread was started in the Disney Co News and Discussion Forum, but it will probably get more attention here unless/until the mods move it.

Read the articles. He says he has cabinets loaded with ideas. This could be a quiet coup for Disney that has a nice payoff.

"I've got millions of them," Lee said. "I have file cabinets filled with ideas for movies and television shows and all sorts of things, and I've been waiting to be associated with someone like Disney so I can start tearing into these things."

Just think of this......

Merge the creative prowess of Stan Lee with the already established popularity of the Incredibles and you have a product line now that could go on for a long time.

this is a potentially bigger deal than Harry Potter...all those franchises that Disney has swooped in and taken. How long do you think Universal's contracts to use Spidey and Hulk are for?

im not sure, but id guess that contract is with marvel, not lee himself. lee is not with marvel anymore.

that depends on what kinda contracts Universal received. I would guess they do not have the rights to these properties indefinitely...Universal is probably more than a little unhappy about this.

It gets very convoluted here, doesn't it. They are Lee's characters...Marvel has the rights to use them. I wonder how long Lee has given those rights to Marvel? Surely, he was not foolish enough to give up his rights to Spidey permanently.

I am guessing that since Stan Lee has left Marvel, that Marvel kept the rights to those characters, so Stan wont have much to say about it. Sounds to me like your typical boot the creater type deal where the person who built the company ends up getting voted out of the head position.

That could be quite profitable (probably a TV series or comic), but is he family friendly enough?

I think so. Whats that thing the Disney Channel does in the evening....Jettix. I think you will see his impact in these types of areas.

I also think he will be instrumental in creating characters for boys to get excited about.

we definitely could eventually get some action-packed E-Tickets out of this. Even with convoluted contracts regarding the existing characters, Lee is a genius and could come up with some new characters for the current generation...this could be a cash cow for Disney.

Yep. Wouldnt it be ironic if the first character he developed for Disney was a warlock hunter....:ROFLOL:

I can see it now, the first line of the movie...."It was a cold, damp night in the alley behind Hawgwortz".....
