Staggs says changes to Fantasyland...

How about bringing Aladdin:The Musical?

I hear it's great, would be great to add a show to the MK.

It would be an E-Ticket, but not in the sense of a 'ride'.

Then again, we've got the Aladdin ride smack in the middle
of Adventureland, so who knows.

Anyway, just thinkin', for what it's worth.

I would love the idea of Aladdin: The Musical coming to Florida, however it creates a few problems.
1. The level of acting is substantially higher in this show, presumably because it's in California vs. Florida
2. There is no existing facility that can accommodate this.
3. It would have to go into DHS thematically, and that park is packed with stage shows as it is. There are expansion pads located near the Animation Courtyard or Sunset Boulevard, with the former being more appealing for crowd control issues.

Two and three I can buy into. However number one there just doesn't apply.

To make the leap that you can only get the "quality" performers in California is simply incorrect.

Walt Disney World is considered a "Equity House" or in other terms is a member of Actor's Equity which is the live theatre union in the states. As such it has to provide certain pay scales, incentives, etc to it's performers in live shows, Streetmosphere and so forth. Now of course just because they are an Equity House doesn't mean that must only employ Equity member performers, in fact WDW makes a habit of hiring non-union members. However after a certain amount of time these non-union performers earn enough stage time to allow them to join Actor's Equity and therefore demand higher pay and benefits...consequently these performers do not stay around very long as WDW doesn't make a habit of hanging onto performers once they go union. Plus once earning their membership, a performer can go other places and earn far more money.

With all that said, it comes down to wages. IF TDO were willing to pay above Equity scale they could attract more quality performers. And they wouldn't even have to go far out of state or region to do so. The talent pool in Florida and the Southeast in general is very deep. It's just that TDO isn't willing to pay what the performers what they're worth as a rule. Which is why many WDW park performers take second jobs to make ends meet.

Ok I'm done. It's just as an Equity member myself I don't want the impression being that the talent simply isn't east of the Mississippi at all...it just doesn't wish to perform in Orlando.

Juan - shoot Lee a PM/email and then let Lee disseminate the info. Or go through however many layers of intermediaries are necessary to insulate yourself.

This isn't difficult.

Otherwise all you're doing is irritating everyone for the sake of your own ego. And since Staggs already confirmed changes are afoot your re-confirmation of such is completely pointless to the rest of us.

I third that!

I'm far from irritated. Believe it or not the public isn't always supposed to know insider things ASAP. To suggest someone put their job on the line to appease someone on a message board is laughable.

We'll know info when we're supposed to.

I believe we have a misunderstanding.

What's the point of going onto a message board largely populated with readers craving information, posting that you have information they want, and then telling them you can't share it?

Either share it or refrain from posting. Any other course of action is simply a self serving attention grab.

I would say irritated is a strong word to describe the majority of feelings, although I guess I can't speak for everyone but in my case I am not irritated just confused but I do think we have to look at if objectively from both sides, the informer, for lack of a better term, and the fans.

It's hard to hear someone say "I know everything" and then say "I can't tell you anything" ... it's a bit of a tease that's all. I believe a previous poster said it best, we knew changes were coming, we have known for a while then we had official confirmation that changes were coming ... we didn't need additional confirmation to tell us something we knew. However, now we are like one degree of seperation from that knowledge and it's exciting.

I respect that people sign NDAs or confidentiality documents but things leak all the time ... so I think irritated is not the word so much as confused and anxious ... confused as to why he can't find someway to get us details and anxious because we know it's close.

We are all so excited to finally hear what we all have been wanting to hear and if someone knows and REALLY wants to tell they will find a way to get the information out there.

I think that sums up the feelings of the fans more so than irritated ... and sure there is probably some jealousy in there too that someone knows and we don't. Let's be real with it.

If we're being real with it, I think the word "entitlement" sums it up better.

I'd be OK with that word too but I think there has to be some accountability with inciting that emotion on the other side as well, don't you?

I mean if I come up to you and said hey I got some awesome news, you're going to love it but I won't tell you, natural reaction is to immediately want to know what it is ... I'm not saying our emotion is perfect but it's certainly valid considering how it was incited.

The only reason I posted in the first place was that I was presented with an opportunity to learn more. I told people about it and that I would share what I could. I ended up going, but found out I really can't share anything. I posted again as follow-up because I made an original promise.

To be truthful, I posted a bunch of hints and if you guys can't pick up on that, it's your own fault. I know they are vague and general, but once you put it all together and some announcements are made, everything will make sense.

How do you think I feel? I had a Disney fan's dream opportunity and I can't share it with anyone. And if the FLE is just the tip of the iceberg of what I learned, think how frustrated I am!

I agree, with the exception of your highly-unnecessary TDO slam. It's not up to them to make something like that happen.

I'm tired of having to repeat myself and I bet Jt04 and other more sensible individuals are!

And just when I thought you were going to gain a little of my sympathy back, you went and doubled down.

Not cool.

What makes you think I need sympathy from you?

Are you also going to get upset that I know math, science, and history too?

I honestly appreciate the care you are taking with what you are and are not able to reveal. Icebergs can be very dangerous....I mean, one killed Leonardo Dicaprio. :lookaroun
