Staggs says changes to Fantasyland...

This has been what I've been trying to say all throughout this thread but no one wants to hear that another place other than Disney is doing good.

I sense fear in the "I hate everything but Disney" fans. That's why they keep mentioning the FLE.

But be warned my friend. Your not allowed to enjoy both WDW and Uni on these boards. The "900 or more post" club won't like that and they are the experts here.

BEEEEP! Wrong again. Nobody here is bashing Uni or Harry. Yes, you're on a Disney board, so naturally many people here prefer it to Uni, which is not a crime either. But many of our most valued and seasoned posters love Uni, and point out when they make a superior product. It's not your love of Uni that people are having a problem with. It's the immature and unintelligent style of posting you've adopted. Hope that clears it up for you.

Something that tries to be something for everyone isn't spectacular to anyone.

Then why are these the most popular rides in the park?

Something that most of the most loved attractions have in common....they were developed without the story line of a movie having already been written. HM, PoTC, JC, IASW, BTMR, ToT, EE, and others thatbare the big draws were not based on a movie first. I think that simple fact is something TDO really needs to revisit this.

I like the concept of synergy when it is well done, but I wonder how many non-franchise projects have been canned under this era that would not have been shelved a few years ago.

In Daily Disney's follow-up post to the OrSen article, Tom Staggs states regarding unveiling the updated FLE plans:

“As you would expect, with passing time, we’re getting close to where the rubber meets the road. So it has to be getting closer and closer to final product. But it’s not 100 percent done. We’ll still play with it. We’ll still go through the process of making sure that we’re doing the right things in the right order in the right way….The point at which we unveil is a fluid question. There may be aspects of it that we don’t really want to show until we drop the rope and let people see it live.”

Does this make some of the concept art on the FLE wall moot? When I was there in June, there were quite a few people studying it (as was I). Will the art be removed? Updated? Or just left there to tease and ultimately mislead? (I realize the TLM and BAtB could stay just fine).

I would expect that much of the design illustrated in the concept artwork to be changed between now and opening. Some of the things were obviously more complete than others.

For the most part things that have been let for construction will remain mostly as is, such as Little Mermaid and the Beauty and the Beast Area. It isn't unusual to release the documents in phases for a large development, actually it would be more complicated to manage if they didn't. That means anything that hasn't had a permit pulled yet could still be easily modified.

Disney may or may not update the concept artwork. It really isn't necessary at this point to do so since things may continue to change anyway.

I would expect given the magnitude of the expansion that they would update if any significant changes take place. The last thing Disney wants to do is leave something out there that is significantly different than planned. That being said, in all reality the only people that it would have an effect on would be those like us that are rabid fanatics. The general public probably still has no clue about the expansion.

If they update the artwork and they make another modification would Staggs have to make another statement??? I don't think they want to deal with that going forward and that is why I don't think they will spend the money on updating the artwork.

They have shown everyone enough to get the excitement up, or in the case of the message boards shown enough for a good debate.

It's easy to update the artwork. Building what's on it is the sticky wicket....

I doubt they'll change the art outside, concepts like that are always "subject to change".

Now if they did a complete overhaul of the FLE (which it doesn't sound like they are), then new concept art would be posted.

I've been waiting for something like this to happen since the expansion was announced. I didn't like the feeling that I pretty much knew all the major things that were being added. Now I'm in the dark. More excitement, anticipation, and speculation. Heh. :D

^^^ha, figured out how to quote. Yes... I know it isn't a big deal.

I couldn't agree more. I enjoy not really having anything at this point. I know just enough now to have me fairly excited with things to come.

From what I gather from reading this whole thread, it seems that the "insiders" are saying that the franchises they chose to represent aren't changing, but that they may be looking at putting in another ride. So it would either be a ride based on Pixies, Dumbo, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty. Now, Steve and others are all saying we'd be happy with what is being done. Seeing as most of the complaints on this board are in regards to it being too girly, the only possible choices for pleasing the folks on this message board would have to be either Dumbo or Beauty and the Beast ( which is the least other girly franchise due to it having the beast ). I'd have to lean towards Dumbo seeing as they never really knew what to do with the Barnstormer area, so that leaves a space open for something to change and they are already putting in a huge restaurant for Beauty and the Beast as well as her M&G.

So that is my deduction. I could be wrong and hopefully someone here who knows something can shed some light.:king:

Stranger things have happened. When 20K went down for the last time it was advertised as a refurb, only to be announced as permanent years later. What ultimately ends up behind the walls could have little or nothing to do with the art that resides on them. I would think though, that if they believed the changes they were making were for the better, they would want to make the guests know before hand.

Even if all the m&gs go, I hope that some of the associated architecture remains. Even if I never experienced the m&gs, the cottages and mansions illustrated in the artwork looked interesting. FL's current architecture is one area where it is the most lacking IMO, either it is too much empty space or to much tacky tents. I am hoping that with the FLE that things will be filled in a bit better and tightened up a bit, as it has been kinda hokey for a while now.

Just an idea, but I would love to see the dragon that is in Disneyland Paris, instead of the house of sleeping beauty...
If you've seen it, you will probably agree with me that's a great audio-animatronic! It takes a lot of space though...

Well said. They could put shops, snack stands in those and I'd be fine with it. Then a centrally located m&g similar to how they handle it at PH. Maybe as part of a stage show with all the princesses including Tiana. That would work while keeping the classic forest setting. But who knows at this point?

Right, even if the m&gs don't make it I would be happy with anything to take up the space and look nice. Shops/restaurants/whatever just to get away from the parking lot feel that we have had for a while that is just a bit too accommodating to strollers for my taste.

I would love to see some sort of attraction based off of the Prince Phillip vs. the dragon scene from Sleeping Beauty. If a sleeping beauty M&G was added to this attraction as sort of a bonus, it could appeal to both boys and girls. What boy wouldn't want to enter a thorn covered castle, slay a dragon, and rescue a princess?

I think its very safe to assume The Little Mermaid and B&B areas will be built as planned. The Pooh area will change since thats already been budgeted and happening now and im going to assume Dumbo plans (for the 2 spinners + tent) will remain the same because Lasseter is a big Dumbo fan and was talking it up at D23. Everything else (which was the problem) is a big question mark.
