just wait until when the wand and stars come down and people will be singing "it's fun to free", and if new palm trees come back to grace the side of SSE, people will be belting out "listen to the land" and wearing purple figment hats for all we know.... :lookaroun

but I won't be doing that, I'll be too busy looking at the mirrored column.:zipit:

Ahh and yes Gasoline will be $0.60 and children will respect their parents without balking, and Chrysler will bring back the original Mini Van as new again all square and pointed.Regan will rise from his internment and be president again.
See everyone will be overjoyed on nostalgia forget any signs of progress that may happen lets take multiple steps back just so we can remenis and fell good about ourselves. EPCOT is for progress not a museum. yes I did not care for the LAL kiosk either but people lets get a grip.

There's a difference between progress, and fundamentally changing (for the worse) the theming and guest experiences of the park. I, and many others, feel that the latter, and not the former, has happened.

With the progression that technology has seen since EPCOT's inception, the original rides could have brought tremendous experiences to guests, while still maintaining their original vision. In almost every case where an original attraction was removed, the attraction that took it's place was worse. The replacements have been more visceral, and offer a cheap thrill, but IMO that's not what EPCOT is about.

But, SSE gives me hope.

It's...I...I'm just...

I feel ridiculous because I never thought the sight of the restored mirror column would actually make me cover my mouth and gasp repeatedly. But it did. And I'm not (too) ashamed of it.

Thanks so much for the post and the photo. I can't even imagine what my body will involuntarily do when I see Spaceship Earth newly naked...

ETA: Brian, do you have the original photo in the full resolution? Someone needs a new wallpaper... :D

My dirty mind envisioned somebody dry humping the mirror column after reading this line.

Oh, the mirror column is small change. By the time I next make it to Epcot, the wand will be down and I'll be desperately looking for ways to scale the sphere and feel up the de-sparkled alucobond panels. :lookaroun

wouldn't it be cool if they brought that song back in the ride? ;)

Hey, speaking of...whatever happened to that rumor about "New Horizons" being integrated into the new SSE score? I never expected much to come of it, but that rumor just kind of died and I don't recall ever reading much more about it.

"Here's to the future, here's to the future, here's to the future and you
It's a world full of color, of perfect harmony, a world full of music, a living melody,
The dreams of tomorrow are beginning today, it's a world of discovery, the world of RCA"

Where is that song from anyway? Ive heard it before on one of martin's videos

So...

Who volunteers to stand there with a bottle of Windex?

:lookaroun
Put me down for an hour.

By the way, it was still all walled-up on Thursday night at park close, so the de-walling happened sometime between then and very early today (depending on when the photo was taken).

I was there today and noticed the walls were gone too! And Reflections was good as always, although I noticed they took the globe out to the middle of the lagoon at like 7, and then took it back about 40 minutes before the show... ? (Oops, sorry for hijacking the thread haha)

I also just noticed that the simple removal of that darn kiosk has made the scale of the area under SSE's underbelly so much more apparent and impressive. The column looks a lot taller and makes the sight of the mammoth sphere hanging over you all the more amazing.
