Trip Report Spring 2022 WDW - Haven't Had So Many Activities In Years!

Hello Friends!

We are a day away from making out trip back to WDW. Our last Disney-related trip was when we went to Oahu for 2 weeks in August of 2021 and had a nice, week-long stay at Aulani. Our last WDW trip was almost this time last year, which was our first trip to the parks since the pandemic.

As the title suggests, this trip will be choke-full of planned activities and reservations. Yikes, we haven't had this many things planned in years. Let's see, what exactly do we have? We have reservation for Drawn to Life (VERY excited to see that!), we will be doing our second Wild Africa Trek (booked that as soon as they announced its resumption), and we have dinner reservations at Garden Grill, Jiko, Steakhouse 71, Hollywood Brown Derby, Jaleo, and Sanaa. Phew, did I miss anything? We usually don't do this many stuff anymore, but we will be joining a couple of our friends who are newly-minted AP holders and DVC members. Thinking back many, many years ago when we first became AP and DVC members, oh yeah, we were as gung-ho as they are now in doing all these things when we were at the parks, so this is fully understandable!

As always, I will try to report live from where we will be and what we will be doing. And as usual, Donald will be joining us on this trip. He's overly excited and already parked himself on top of the pile in my luggage.

We're bringing along the golden ears hat to celebrate WDW 50th. :)

Anyhow, I still have a few more things to pack, which I need to do before we go to bed because we leave very early tomorrow morning for the 7 am flight to Orlando.

It's taking me a bit longer to recover from this trip, and work piling up doesn't help either.

I have checked a few of the stuff we brought home in my luggage, just to make sure things that are breakable didn't break. So far so good!

The two mugs that we got from Trader Sam made it back unscathed.

The ornament that I got from Momento Mori also got home in one piece:

I still have to open a couple more boxes, but I'm not as concerned about those two as I was with these.

I'm sure everyone has heard about the removal of the mask mandates on airplanes now. I, like anyone else, were getting sick and fed-up with the mask. However, I understand the reason for making everyone wear them. I continue to wear them indoors, even while we were at WDW and even when they weren't required. I have a good idea of the science behind the use of these masks.

I'm glad that I traveled to WDW while the mask mandates were in place (and while the omicron BA.2 is making itself a menace) on airplanes. Now I'm more apprehensive about commercial flights and not sure what to do with our upcoming trips in the next couple of months.

So I wanted to do this on ToT during this trip, but with only one elevator shaft running, the wait times were just too horrendous for me to get on it, and I had one park pass for DHS.

Instead, I decided to run this app on my phone while I was on the Slinky Dog ride. This is what most people call the "G force" that one feels. The more accurate term here is the apparent weight (mg). The graph below shows the G force that I experienced while on this ride.

You'll notice that the largest G that one pulls is about 2.5 times the normal weight. This is probably near the entrance to a climb or at the bottom of dip. On the other hand, one also got lighter in many parts, having weight less than half of the normal weight.

I'm hoping to use this in my lessons one of these days (I teach college physics). But this would have been a lot nicer if I could collect data on ToT. :)

I love this! I work in a missile/ NASA town and know so many physicists. My next door neighbor is a retired physicist and when we get into science discussions, he often has to use examples like these to explain things to me. 😂 I say that my neighbor is using 15% of his brain to discuss and think about things and I'm using 100% and just trying to keep up! LOL

Hi everyone,

I had every intention of posting more follow-up stuff from this trip, such as more pics, videos, reviews (Drawn to Life was wonderful!), etc. However, work got in the way, so I have not been able to edit videos and collect all the photos from this trip yet. I may still do that after Finals week is over for my students.

But I want to give you a quick update of an upcoming Disney-related trip that we will have later this month. A group of us will be embarking on a 7-night Disney's Alaskan Cruise. We will be sailing out of Vancouver on the 23rd. This will be my second Alaskan cruise. We did our first Alaskan cruise back in 2018. We planned for this cruise in 2021, but we all know what happened then, don't we?

The difference this time from our cruise back in 2018 is all the COVID vaccinations record that we have to upload. We had to install ArriveCAN app on our phones to deal with arrival in Canada, and we have to do a Safe Passage registration to sail on a Disney Cruise. Phew! Finished all of that this morning. The only thing left is to enter our flight info going into Canada 72 hrs before our departure.

So.... just as one trip ended, another one is about to happen. Like I said in one of my earlier trip report after the pandemic, it feels as if we're trying to cram as many Disney-related trips as we can after 2 years of not doing much! :D

I'm sorry for not being able to follow up and finish this trip report. I have not been able to do much with the work and time crunch. And now, I'm about to embark on another Disney-related trip. We are a day away from flying off to Vancouver and going on a Disney's Alaska Cruise this coming Monday. This means that this trip report will have to wait even longer for it to be completed. Sigh...

Hopefully, I'll see all of you in my cruise trip report.

Cheers!
