Spring 2016 Discount Rumors

While researching reservations for April on the Disney World website, I ran across this new promo banner:
"Save up to $500 on Room, Ticket and Dining Plan Packages at select Disney Resort hotels. Stay in the middle of the magic and save up to $500 on your package for a family of 4."

However, when I clicked on the banner, I was brought to an error page. Rumors have been circling the web regarding a package discount starting tomorrow, so I assume this is a glimpse (or glitch) at the new offer being offered tomorrow.

Edit: No discount is being applied during checkout. All prices remain standard. Screenshot attached:

$500 is $500. It's a lot and any discount is helpful. But to stay on property for four people, $500 becomes pennies. Plus it specifically says "up to" which means less discount in some situations. DH and I alone just bought 5 day park hoppers and that cost $807.28. That's just the tickets for two adults. (We are happy to pay this as its a part of the vacation costs we know we endure vacationing the way we do-not complaining about our costs here, just showing costs for the overall picture). But I cannot even fathom how much an on-property Disney stay costs for a family of four, or more. Granted a child's ticket costs less and under 3 is free but dang, it still all adds up.

Just curious, why go with this and not offer free dining or 20-30% off the resort stay?

My guess would be that the phrase "Save up to $500" is eye-catching and draws people in without actually hitting Disney's bottom line nearly as much as Free Dining or percentage discounts. To be fair, the goal is to fill beds, not to save people money.

your all also missing the verbage of the offer... "Save up to..." Not everyone would even make it to $500.

What i'm seeing today is 4 park day tickets + 5th is free. So possibly a family of 5 or so, is going to save up to that magical $500.

This is being offered as an add-on to a room only offer, which is nice to see you are not forced into the full package, there are pass-holders out there! lol.

It's also the only offer stretching into May so far. I'm sure more to come.

There's also an offer for Disney Visa Cardholders at the DVC resorts. 35% off at Saratoga Springs, Old Key West, Wilderness Lodge Villas, Boardwalk Villas, and Polynesian Villas, 4/3-6/30/16. Must use a Disney Visa for deposit.

Disney has jacked up prices big time. The same vacation I had earlier this year, same hotel and everything is almost $1,000 more. Damn

when we do our trips around free dining its 1800ish for 3 of us at a moderate with the mid tier dining plan for 5 day tickets and 7 nights.

Family of four here. Staying at a moderate with Free Dining runs us about $4500. But that's staying for 9 nights and includes renewing our APs. Without the APs it was about 3600, staying at POFQ. Our bounceback at The Beach Club coming up in September is about $5600.
