At the end, with the knock at the door and Wanda said it wasn't her doing, I think she was telling the truth. Someone much more powerful brought in "Pietro". I think.
But why? Why bring in a "wrong" Pietro?

A real huge moment will be if the actual Pietro shows up later.

The thing is that
his actions and sarcasm wasn't on par with ATJ's Quicksilver
. It was more in line with
Evan Peters' own QS
but even more sarcastic and cocky.
Agreed (also why I preferred Evan's version - aside from being a HUGE fan of his).

But after watching that episode - okay, after watching that entrance - as the kids say... I am shook.

I kind of don't know how to react so I suppose I need to just let it sink in for awhile (yet another reason I'm so happy these are weekly episodes - time to process!).

I remember when the whole 'two Quicksilvers' situation happened between the two studios and the results, in my personal opinion, were unfortunate yet resulted in some of the storylines we see today, so were they ultimately for the best? Guess we are about to see.

The 'recast' may be the most brilliant cheat ever - and yet it still feels like a cheat until we see how it plays out.

As I said, as an AHS fan, I became incredibly impressed with Evan Peters - he is magic onscreen. Therefore, to me, the MCU got the less interesting version of the character in the films. Not a knock on ATJ (who I feel really sorry for - getting his role taken from him like this) who I might have enjoyed more in his role if he didn't have to compare to EP. But he does. And given the choice between who I'd rather see in the role - either in limited capacity which I'm assuming this will be or going forward - hands down I'd rather watch Evan Peters.

But the irony of the theory that this is the Luke equivalent reveal - it's not - it's the Ahsoka Tano appearance, only in that case, I would have preferred Ashley over Rosario! But that's the equivalent of two actors in the same role.

More thoughts to come as I can stop and think some more...

I think whoever is really in control needed something to distract Wanda and Vision, so they brought in someone to think they are Pietro and who plays that "part".

I don't think we can assume that if Evan Peters is still Quicksilver, that he knows that in the Hex.

Still contemplating 'recasting' and meta choices...

The MCU has recast before - Hulk and Rhodey being prime examples.

But I'm trying to think of another show or film series that has done this bizarre and daring a recast with meta commentary/awareness and the only thing I can think of is the Roseanne/Becky situation.

But agreed that we don't know what's going on yet. Though it was weird that Wanda described Pietro as being far away rather than dead. Was she in denial (though she definitively refused to do anything about the dead dog) or was she sensing a multiverse Pietro? I've only watched the episode once but my immediate reaction to Wanda's reaction to him at the door was confusion rather than recognition. Is she surprised to see him there and that's what the reaction was or was she like 'who is this guy and why is he wearing ATJ's clothes and wig?' Guess we'll find out next week!

Random other thoughts - Wanda coming through the barrier was SCARY. And I was happy to hear her accent coming through when she is 'herself'. And if we are to take her at her word, she doesn't know what's going on yet she exerts some control and there is video of her stealing Vision's corpse (wonder if that was from the shot but not used Endgame tag?) - but if something else is controlling her/reality, was that even really her??? Also: I liked the kids playing the kids - younger and older. And why didn't Monica want to talk about Captain Marvel? Expect that will lead into the next CM film.

All of the Mephisto talk reminds me of all the people saying that Snoke was Darth Plaguis. Likewise, so many people saying that Wanda really isn't in control reminds me of so many people (like myself) swearing that Rey was a Skywalker or Solo.

And, as it turned out, all of that was about Palpatine. So maybe not Mephisto (Plaguis) but someone/something even more ubiquitous to the Marvel (or Xmen) universe? I think that's another reason many are starting to navigate to
Magneto, although he can only move metal things
so it doesn't really fit that well. But if we were going with THE movie marvel villain of all, then it would swing back to
Loki
the true deceiver. But I have NO idea what he'd be getting out of this!

Also when the doctor commented about Monica’s test results, the way Monica reacted was very interesting.

Yes, this is my Twitter account. No, I don’t look at spoilers before episodes. I go into this blindly on a week-to-week basis.
