And I just explained it…I even predicted such low rent (iq) critiques:

Now can you do better with your “gotchas”…I know that’s hard because all the twisting is just to defend the D…cause we can’t sleep at night otherwise, huh?
Nobody is twisting to defend Disney. We would all like to do what’s best for us without constantly being judged and harangued about it.

I have just finished working my way through this thread expecting (hoping?) to see actual discussion of the film. This is, after all, a place for spoilers. I’m not sure whether to be surprised or not that it’s mostly a rehashing of the same old arguments (almost none of which actually have anything to do with the film’s content).
It bombed…it doesn’t matter.

Discussion on the film is perfectly fine. If it is genuine

Where it becomes “non-genuine” is when the circus parade of excuses start to be oh so subtly inserted:

“Well it will make money on D+”
Then
“D+ makes ALOT of money…that was the only goal they had”
And the best
“Disney didn’t do anything wrong…the fix was in by an uber powerful handful of people on twitter or tic toc that unfairly called it bad”

“MAAAA!! The MEATLOAF!!”

And then silence as it’s forgetten in world record time…so we can pump tires for the next sequel or remake…

If this is a shocking revelation to members who haven’t sniffed out the pattern yet…I apologize.

But this is a spoilers thread where people come to talk about what’s in the movie. Other people find that type of discussion interesting and it matters to them.

Many of these threads do nothing but attempt to do just that. It is a “fan forum”

No…that’s not fair. Half of it is that…the other half is poison tipped darts tossed at Disney to somehow “counteract” the defense.

Neither are particularly effective. The problem is we all take it too seriously. It’s really not a core part of our lives and we need to look at that from above.
Except the bad vloggers and podcasters…they have nothing to else it seems? Very sad

Also, I don't know your taste but I think you might want to give this show a watch. It just started. Only 2 episodes out so far. It's hilarious. I especially loved the second episode which was filmed as a single continuous shot and particularly funny.

Truth be told I think Rogen is a complete Buffon…never cared for him

But…the concept is very interesting and worth a watch 👍🏻

Personally, I much prefer sequels or prequels over remakes but there have been a few remakes that I quite enjoyed and I'm very much looking forward to Lilo and Stitch.
My oft repeated, not very bold prediction of the year is that stitch is gonna be the biggest lb for lb hit of the year…

Sequels have become disastrous for the mouse house too…because they resist the notion that films have an ethos and the successful ones are so because the audience likes the ethos and wants it maintained

Stick to the plan, stan. Their arrogance has shown that they believe they don’t have to. Results are not kind.

Unfortunately for Pixar it’s nothing but repetition now. Because King Creative can’t pull his stock out of the mud and there is no other choice as it stands.

Then I have no idea what point you’re trying to make here.
You’ll get it…at some point

Everyone knows how you feel about Disney
More untrue words have never been spoken…also the English language has distinction between “individuals” and “collectives”

As far as the spoiler thread…the failure should be discussed by fans. That is constructive in a market environment. It probably should be the box office “performance” thread…but that has long been completely destroyed by soap boxes and moving goal posts

You both missed and demonstrated my point.

Everyone knows how you feel about Disney but if you don’t want to discuss what is in this movie in the context of a spoilers thread, then why are you posting?
I think part of the issue is there is no other thread on this movie other than the spoiler thread now. I understand why, but for those of us who have not/are not going to the movie that are still interested in what comes out of what this movie does, it's the only place we can really discuss it.

Exactly the same sort of discussion of Snow White has dominated the box-office thread for the past couple of weeks. I waited to watch the film before coming here, expecting to find something different, but apart from a handful of reviews from those who’ve actually seen it, the discussion in this thread is pretty much identical to what is already taking place in the other thread, with a slightly different cast of characters.

I have not cared for Seth Rogen either, but this is truly worth a watch. There's a good chance you'll love it.
A lot of my views of Rogen were informed by his early stoner persona and a lot of work that really missed me. I didn’t care for it.

THAT SAID, his TMNT film was really terrific and I have high hopes he does the same for Figment*, Darkwing Duck, and Talespin. I too have heard nothing but great things about The Studio.

*(I don’t think that’s happening, sadly).

To bring it back to the topic of the thread:

Do the Dwarves fit in organically to the film? Or does it feel they were inserted in a post-2023 corrective, and the “Seven Woodsmen of Benetton” were intended to be a proxy for them in this reimagined tale?

Put another way, are they duplicative?

Just curious. Not sure if /when I’ll get around to seeing this.

As I noted in my review, it seems that Snow White was always meant to have her own (magical) companions; the bandits are Jonathan’s crew:
There is a certain tension between the film’s more original aspects and those that hew closer to the source material, I suspect because of all the revisions that the project went through. This is at its most apparent in relation to the dwarfs and the bandits. The latter were first made known to us through those infamous production photos. Based on what I can cobble together from the information we have at our disposal, these bandits were originally meant to be a parallel group to (and not a replacement for) Snow White’s companions, who were conceived of as magical beings of some sort. It’s possible that these magical beings were always going to be dwarfs, but I’m inclined to agree with the view that Disney changed them to bring them closer to their cartoon counterparts in the wake of all the criticism levelled at the leaked production stills. Regardless of how this state of affairs came about, what we have been left with is a group of bandits who have evidently been stripped of all their lines and character—it’s clear that they at one time had much more to say and do—and a CGI rehashing of the dwarfs, whose very traditional feel is somewhat at odds with the more novel elements of the film. I suspect the two groups as originally conceived—Jonathan’s bandits and Snow White’s magical companions—would have been more interesting and fleshed out than what we’ve ended up with.
