I enjoyed it. I've been looking forward to this show for a long time. Of all the D+ MCU shows, this was by far my most anticipated. Hopefully we get a lot more of Moon knight from here on out. I really hope the show does well and is good enough to bring the character to the big screen MCU.

I’d never heard of Moon Knight before and found it very confusing, I think I’ll have to watch it again. Schizophrenic who’s kind of a cowardly weirdo in his natural form but a bad a$$ super hero in his other form is what I get so far.

It looks like they're going the flashback route. I'm sure we'll see his actual origin in the next couple episodes. This first episode was really just to intrigue and make you want to see and learn more.

I know nothing about moon Knight and I was confused…but it felt like it was going somewhere with a purpose. Well written/shot/acted

If you saw the FX show Legion, it touched upon the same Dissociative Identity Disorder with David's character. It was a good show and produced very well, I wish it didn't end the way it did.

Anyways, the alters cause a sort of time jump that can be confusing at first to follow storywise. Hopefully now that Steven knows about it the jumps won't be as confusing.

Avengers are a no go…pretty broad umbrella there

Wdw will never have a significant marvel presence
West Coast Avengers are technically a separate team, an expansion team if you will. So they technically aren't part of the main Avengers "family", at least based on the contract.

So since Moon Knight has never been part of the main Avengers team, he might be able to be used.

Also never say never, Disney just hasn't been willing to really try to get back those rights. So far just trying to work around the edges of the contract. Money speaks volumes, those right will come back at some point, just a matter of time and money.

Interesting duality there

But Disney has no reason to get the rights back…there’s no upside for them as it stands

At this point correct they have no reason. Longer term, the ability to regain the marketing aspect of using the Marvel name and regaining the use of all the characters within WDW is reason enough. Remember we're only a year into Marvel being in any domestic Disney Park in any significant way with Avengers Campus. Just sticking to Guardians and other B characters from the MCU in WDW won't cut it.

Also Comcast is less likely long term to want to keep paying Disney the licensing fees and a cut of the merch to use characters that aren't their own.

So I suspect some horsetrading will happen in the future. But lets not get this thread derailed too much with this.

Just watched the first episode, this is goood, out of the Disney plus original Marvel shows I think Loki was my fave but this might top it. The soundtrack is so goood.

Giving me time travel, non chronological switching vibesss. With this whole idea of a goddess who judges by seeing past present and future of someone.
And it seems like Steven’s waking up or gaining control of the body several months back when Marc was mainly controlling it in that Swiss looking town. At least that’s what I’m guessing.

Really looking forward to this one, totally more up my alley than the other Disney plus original marvel shows. The story being set up, the aesthetics and the soundtrack. Chefs kiss.

If Comcast gives up…that’s one thing.

But this MCU stuff isn’t gonna last 40 years…it will fade as all things do…

And Disney has zero desire to take on huge construction and more importantly operation and labor costs to run variations of what essentially already exists 8 miles away.

Of all the things we talk about around here…this maybe the easiest one to agree upon.

What’s really in it for them?

Well we'll disagree on the lasting power, I've been hearing for what seems like 10 years on super hero (specifically MCU) fatigue. And yet we're already 14 years into the MCU and other than some rare exceptions it shows no signs of slowing. 40 years, maybe not, but 25-30 years sure its possible. Lots of stories left to tell.

I will agree that Disney has no desire right now for huge construction and operational costs, but that won't last forever. As with all things in life, change happens. There will be a time when Disney does huge capex projects at the theme parks again.

And there have been rumblings out there that Comcast may want to replace Super Hero Island with something else, so there is that too. If that happens all rights revert back to Disney.

So with that who knows where we'll be in 3-5 years, could be a whole new ball game or just more of the same. Only time will tell.

Well…we shall see. MCU has fired most of its big bullets except 1…

But it’s fascinating to see what they do? All superheroes go dormant periodically and then return again.

I think when/if marvel ebbs…Comcast may let the IP go…if they are successful in acquiring/partnering with good brands of their own.

I never saw that on any I follow, so not sure why they got that idea.

There actually is a tie-in to the Werewolf At Night series however via an Easter Egg.

In the first scene where we see Marc talking to the little girl in the museum if you look behind sarcophagus in the glass case there is a QR code. This code leads to a free digital download for Werewolf By Night issue 32.

There is a MCU D+ series for Werewolf At Night that has supposedly started filming however. How if anything that is connects to this Moon Knight series, I don't know.
Midnight Sons, if you believe other Youtube hype. That is why you can hopefully expect to see a few other key characters like Black Knight(already introduced in Eternals) and Ghost Rider, and already announced Blade.

You got it so far.

How heroic he is... we'll see.
Yes and no. In the comics Marc Specter was the actual main character and Steven(Stephen?) was one of his phases, as was a cab driver whose name escapes me as was Moon Knight. This seems to be going in a slightly different swerve.
