I’m afraid the defenders of the retheme will never acknowledge if it does turn out subpar, just as those opposed to this change will be reluctant to acknowledge if it is well done.
Speaking for myself, I’ve repeated this several times in the current 569 pages of this thread…I have, as Dean Wormer said, 0.0 faith that Tiana will be as good as Splash…that said, I will absolutely ride it and have NO qualms about heaping lavish praise IF it truly is worthy of that praise. On that note, I will NOT accept being lumped in as a “problematic” ride lover because it didn’t live up to the corporate hype.
Bottom line is, there will either be a whole new crop of beloved and respected imagineers OR this will be a debacle that will go down in Disney’s history as one of the biggest mistakes the company has EVER made…we will all know in about two years.
Until then, goodbye old friend…you were an awesome attraction and Tony Baxter, bravo!

There’s a lot of grey between these two alternatives. For example, the ride might turn out well but still be considered inferior in some respects to the previous version.

Will we still have the Magic Kingdom Mountain Range??! Space, Splash, and Big Thunder? Will it be Space, Tiana's, and Big Thunder?

It's a new overlay, yes, but why can't we still call it Splash Mtn??! (All things I feel Disney execs dont't think of because they don't know/care)
It should've been "Tiana's Splash Mountain" or something like that.

Again, that is opinion…I’m on one side of the Splash fence and you’re clearly on the other and we’ve both made our opinions perfectly clear. The retheme of Splash is such a polarizing event, bigger than the removal of 20k, bigger than Toad, bigger than Stitch that I feel that is the only way AT THIS TIME, to properly convey feelings. Time will tell if our two opposing sides will come together or if we will forever be apart. I always try to find the positive in every scenario, but this will be tough. Again, we’ll find out in 2 years.

Erm, no. I’ve stated multiple times how I love Splash and am personally very sad it’s going, even if I understand why the retheme is happening. I’ve also shared my disappointment in some of the details they’ve released concerning the retheme, particularly the salt-mine stuff. So please don’t put me into some rival camp you’ve decided has to exist. Not everything has to be either/or, which is precisely the point I was trying to make.

That’s weird I don’t remember there being a 600 page thread on that. I must have missed it.
That’s only because you aren’t plugged into Myrtle Beach or theme park channels, but trust me. A park with national money backing, huge names, not even lasting a year until bankruptcy.

Money mismanagement and location led to it's downfall. It was a cool concept but it wasn't executed properly. 500 mil down the drain. In another state (Texas?) it probably would have worked.

It’s bigger than all of those things combined because you can make a reasonable argument that it is top 5 all time themed attraction in the most important theme park on earth.

It was one of my favourite rides too. I shall miss it terribly. I’m not sure why that should prevent me from understanding why it’s being rethemed or from hoping that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure turns out well.

There's nothing wrong with "hoping" the Tiana retheme turns out well, absolutely no one here wants the ride to suck. But setting aside the information and opinions shared with me, it is simply not reasonable to expect people to believe that.

A lot of people are doubtful it will be able to serve as a remotely suitable replacement for Splash. It's the default opinion of a large quantity of people here. With very good reason. Disney has in no way earned the benefit of the doubt. Their track record of replacement attractions like this have been abysmal. If this ride turns out to be remotely as good as Splash Mountain, it would be an earth-shattering anomaly.

Despite the positive information and opinions shared with me on the project, I also remain skeptical and won't be jumping on the bandwagon until I see for myself. We've been given hope and had it dashed countless times before.
