You’re right. I was thinking “World Showcase = Country” when I typed that.AFRICA IS NOT A COUNTRY but a continent...

Is he? Had no idea.It can’t be executed in Epcot due to Universal’s rights. Next time you’re in Marvel Superhero Island go to the sculpture by the lagoon between the Cap Cafe and Spidy photo op. Anyone on that sculpture can’t be used at WDW (plus more characters) Black Panther is on that sculpture.
My very limited understanding of the situation is that the originals are African American stories, some white guy adapted them in a book attached with a slave stereotype, and then that was what Disney adapted for the movie.I said this over in the Cali thread but I figured it works here, Disney has essentially dug themselves into a hole with Song Of the South. Years and years of pretending it's some hideous monster that can never see the light of day has prevented them from releasing it without facing "DiSney REleaSeS ExTREmleY Racist MovIe" backlash.
Even if we make the biggest ruckus possible they'd still more than likely evict the Brers.
If you’re going to make that argument, why destroy Tom Sawyer island. Just develop the land on the north side of RoA for WDW (where Galaxy’s edge is in DL)This way Tiana can still be added to Disneyland (in the expansion) and Disney World (on Tom Sawyer's island). And I don't have to see my favorite Rabbit get evicted (sorry Roger).
I suspect they will consider the success of Black Panther 2 that won't feature T'Challa for obvious reasons. I've said it before while Chadwick Boseman was still alive, they could conceivably do Wakanda in Florida without T'Challa and I have to believe it's something they're considering. It can’t be executed in Epcot due to Universal’s rights. DL is supposedly doing show tests for theirs. I don't know how accurate that is. If it's true I'd argue we say goodbye to California within a year-two yearsI think the Br'ers are going whether we like it or not. I understand people's attachment to them but DL is definitely going Tiana. I doubt MK is keeping the Br'ers beyond 2027 or so.
We know that they planned it for Epcot. But at the same time, it would be an incredibly terrible look to represent the real country of Africa (edit: it’s a continent not a country )with a fictional culture. It would go against their commitment to accurate diverse representation. Creating an offshoot land in California is the best way to execute it.

Why does that sound like a land that Fozzy Bear would live in? I think that's a better idea: a land where the Muppets compete with Marvel Characters. I can see it now! They could build Wakanda. They just couldn't feature the Black Panther -- I'm not sure about other connected characters like Shuri, but the Black Panther himself could not be involved in any way.

I've always thought Wakanda would be a great fit at Epcot not because of its geographical location but b/c it's the most technologically advanced society in the MCU - plenty of opportunity for edutainment. IMO if there had to be a Wakanda land at Epcot it should be an offshoot of FW rather than WSC and have a dark or thrill ride with a preshow where Shuri explains the technology. We know that they planned it for Epcot. But personally, that's a bit too much for me. I'm okay with IP attractions at Epcot but feel very iffy about IP-based lands. If anything, my preference would have been a Wakandan technology expo taking over Wonders of Live instead of the Play Pavilion. It would have infused IP in a way that still felt in keeping (or at least more in keeping) with FW's theme & mission statement. But I guess that ship has sailed :/
You could let EPCOT be EPCOT instead of a disjointed mess.DHS should be the home of the Superheroes and movies of that ilk. They have Star Wars now and they could have Indiana Jones.. DHS could be the action Movie Park... Let EPCOT be something else.
I could not agree more... With all the possibilities of attractions they could have built there, Guardians Of The Galaxy still makes no sense whatsoever. You could let EPCOT be EPCOT instead of a disjointed mess.
I actually disagree, but with a caveat. Today's Disney is about leveraging IP, and Guardians is one that could fit thematically in EPCOT. It probably wouldn't be my first choice, but I personally think that the proper story treatment would result in Guardians being a better fit for EPCOT than TRON (as many have suggested). Having said that, if the question was what park should get Guardians as an IP, EPCOT would not be my first choice.I could not agree more... They've certainly had enough time to draw a few more concept art pieces. We're coming up close to a year that this was announced with still practically as much news as we heard when this was announced. Seems like such a dumb thing to do when there's no information still. I wonder if D23 will finally give us more info.
Proof that it was not in production for a long time. We haven't even seen as much as a paint chip for the new attraction since that original low quality piece of concept art. We're coming up close to a year that this was announced with still practically as much news as we heard when this was announced. I’d be shocked if it wasn’t.Proof that it was not in production for a long time. We haven't even seen as much as a paint chip for the new attraction since that original low quality piece of concept art.
Ultimately, while Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom will be re-themed, I'd be shocked at this point if it were PATF.
