I had thought this too. But with what has come out regarding their internal diversity program in the last few days -- they're definitely doing it. And I imagine it will take some priority over much more needed updates.

Nothing is a definite. As millions are riding the ride again on both coasts just fine. The bean counters and guest satisfaction may win over the merch potential

How many of those projects were responses to/spurned on by the "woke" social justice mob?
0.
As in they never are. It is always a revenue choice or random capital. This one just relying on timing to market the choice. And it was done so before realizing just how long the lockdown was going to take which is what has made it rocky.

Also, not totally zero. African Outpost has an argument somewhere and one can see how those "ambitions" turned out abd the teaser that became filler for an expansion pad. Even the Author of Roots was presented on a tv special as if a consultant.

Is there anyway in heaven that Disneyland could use their expansion plans for Tiana? Because all of the maps I've been looking at seem to show this idea. The new pathway even seems to be coming from New Orleans Square.

This way Tiana can still be added to Disneyland (in the expansion) and Disney World (on Tom Sawyer's island). And I don't have to see my favorite Rabbit get evicted (sorry Roger).
He’s getting evicted unless enough people make a compelling argument that the path they are taking isn’t actually fixing the issues caused by Disney’s adaptation of the Brer Rabbit tales.

Nobody wants to stick their neck out as the lawyer on this trial. Can’t say I blame them. Not that I necessarily agree with the verdict, but it would be an uphill battle.

I would think that Critter Country and the Goofy Sky School area in DCA are the best points of access to this land. I think the better option for Disneyland is to use the space for a full build out of Wakanda. Make it the first Marvel land that doesn't exist in the park that it resides in and give it the full treatment.

We know that they planned it for Epcot. But at the same time, it would be an incredibly terrible look to represent the real country of Africa (edit: it’s a continent not a country :banghead:)with a fictional culture. It would go against their commitment to accurate diverse representation. Creating an offshoot land in California is the best way to execute it.

It can’t be executed in Epcot due to Universal’s rights. Next time you’re in Marvel Superhero Island go to the sculpture by the lagoon between the Cap Cafe and Spidy photo op. Anyone on that sculpture can’t be used at WDW (plus more characters) Black Panther is on that sculpture.

AFRICA IS NOT A COUNTRY but a continent...

I said this over in the Cali thread but I figured it works here, Disney has essentially dug themselves into a hole with Song Of the South. Years and years of pretending it's some hideous monster that can never see the light of day has prevented them from releasing it without facing "DiSney REleaSeS ExTREmleY Racist MovIe" backlash.

Even if we make the biggest ruckus possible they'd still more than likely evict the Brers.
