With all the changes going on around the monorail resorts, I recently found some old resort stationery, welcome folders, etc. from the 1980s. In order: Contemporary, Ft. Wilderness, Poly.

If you feel we should just accept everything without question or never have a concern then you and (or) whoever came up with that theory are EXACTLY the type of customer Disney wants.
Fixed that for you.
Never said you or anyone else cannot be critical or have a concern. I wouldn't try to convince anyone to not go that route if they truly felt the need. I just feel it is rather trivial to constantly point out the negatives when, in my opinion, the positive outweigh them. If anyone is so busy pointing out the negatives while on property, I think they may be focused in another direction than I am while there.

So, we were just there, right, and the hub work at the MK prevented us from grabbing "our spot" for the castle show and Wishes. Did it upset me? A little. Did I come on here to bash Disney for taking away my 'joy'? Nope, because you know what, we found another spot and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Wait, what, I enjoyed a 'stale' fireworks show???? Why yes, yes I did.

I see ;)

But isn't some of this coop stuff showing up at DLR already?

The limited release shirt is ridiculous. It eliminates impulse buys and severely limits exposure. Not counting your comments on how beefy they are lol
:)

I didn't know it was at DLR, that's news to me. If so, that is even more stupid.

Glad you like my beefy comments... haha. I just think the whole "limited release" thing is stupid. It is lying to consumers, making them think they are only available for a limited time, when it is really just Disney being gun shy and avoiding committing to actual units. They've done so many of these limited release shirts in the past, you mean to tell me no one can provide actual sales projections of new poster tees at Disney? Oy vey.

I would probably speculate after the next few weeks of stress testing with Easter crowds.

IMHO I think March kicked them where it counted and Easter is going to really put some pain on them....but May..oh boy...I think May is going to be across the board high occupancy on site all categories of resorts and there are going to be some protesting park hoppers if it stays at 3 per day at one park.

Random Spring Break observation ... last night the Grand Floridian parking lot was as empty as I've ever seen it since the DVC opened. By far, too, easily double if not triple the number of open spaces you'd see any night of the year. (@PhotoDave219 can back me up.) Friend on Twitter said Beach Club also not busy. This on the Monday before Good Friday.

Maybe a lot of schools went for an earlier Spring Break this year, or had to cancel because of snow days. Or maybe the price for WDW hotels has reached the tipping point, and they're finding out they've priced themselves out of the Orlando market.

Serious? Because availability for May looks pretty grim . If you call for DVC points only 1 bedrooms here and there are available. And most categories for all the deluxes show unavailable for a passholder discount. May looks like it is going to be a packed month at WDW.

Oh, and why hasn't anyone mentioned the $500 'early bird'/VIP package for Star Wars Weekends?

C'mon, you guys have to be on top of this stuff ... I am in my last week or so here before I take off for a good six weeks for my Faux Top One Percent Spirited Spring Holiday (likely checking in just a tad during the whorefest because how can I not?)

One graph from the O-Sentinel story just bothers me so much. C'mon Dewayne, you just had to add the word ''independent'' to your intro of Lovable Lou. Did Dr. Blondie ask you to? Anyone in their right mind understands he is a WDW paid BRAND advocate.

“The idea that everyone has to leave and you can sit and relax and have the park to yourself for a little while” should appeal to Epcot guests, said Lou Mongello, host of the independent WDW Radio podcast. “You’re paying for the sense of exclusivity and doing something special.”

Why do some people claim Disney was going to add more than 3 FP+ selections all along? If thats the case, why start with 3 in the first place? Why not announce they plan to add more later, or same for park hopping? What would they have to gain by keeping it a secret? Nothing, unless they were unsure of being able to do it. Were they really planning on doing this, or was it a reaction to people being upset about just having 3? I would say the latter. just guessing though. Im sure many will say it was to ease in the new system.

I am quite sure Disney always planned to expand the system. That said, it should have been communicated from the start, but that wouldn't have made the current rules look so good, so they didn't.

What one must understand is that WDW is run by lying liars who lie. They aren't Walt. They don't care about the resort's history or Legacy let alone a man who died well before most of us were even born. They concern themselves with the bottom line and next quarter's results.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention that today is the 31st Anniversary of TDL opening and forever changing lucky American fanbois' impressions on just how well run and quality a Disney park can be (if TWDC doesn't actually own and operate it).

Oh, and as Disney ignores HUGE anniversaries or just makes them merchandise events (look at the pathetic way Disney is 'honoring' Disney-MGM's 25th next month), it's interesting to note that TDL will be getting a new night castle projection show for the anniversary and they actually have merchandise (as they do EVERY year) for Birthday No. 31.

I'd also be remiss if I didn't comment on Euro Disney SCA announcing that Ratatouille and associated area development will make its debut this summer on July 10th (a perfect date!) ... For all of those people who rip the Paris resort, it is getting better all the time (after hitting rock bottom to be sure). Great Spring Festival going on now and what should be a terrific summer. And they are well at work on basically a total rebuild of the Newport Bay Club.

And this summer, a major E-Ticket using technology that Disney has no desire to ever bring stateside, but will now exist at every foreign resort that bears the Disney name.

Garcia is starting to point out how much market share Wdw has lost. About time wonder if there's a story coming

Garcia is a waste of space. Period.

But yes, I saw his Tweet where he said every WDW park and SWO has lost market share to UNI since 2009 (a year before Potter). I haven't actually looked at numbers to see if that's true, but I suspect it is.

UNI is the best run resort in FL. Period. Even if it relies a bit too much on screens (yeah, that's just a shot at my Parkscope buddies, who I genuinely have no issue with beyond them acting a bit too much like Disney fanbois when it comes to taking criticism.)

Per @tikiman poly waterfall being drained

Tikiman should spend his money in Hawaii and not at an ancient WDW resort that is more overrated than Bob Iger's leadership skills. It isn't the 1970s or 80s. And that resort is looking like a soap actress that has had way too much 'work' done and is now just a mess.

The real Poly died when Tangaroa Terrace was shuttered ... it died when it's deep-water pool with truly thrilling slide was replaced with the typical WDW of the 90s effort of zero entry, nothing over five feet in depth and basic water slide. ... It died when the koi fish that used to swim in the outside entry ponds were taken away (served?) ... It died when they hacked the trees inside and replaced old ones with little flowery ones. ... It died when the colorful macaws were sent to DAK. ... It died when the beach swimming went away. ... Would you like me to go on?

This is the Disney I love(d)...so much attention to detail. Going above and beyond in everything they did.

Yep. It was like that all over. From the resort specific 'newspapers' you would get at check in to the menus at restaurants. I have loads of that 'ephemera' in plastic bins in a closet.

Now, it's all just a whorefest for the Disney BRAND. ... Like I said, witness how there isn't one retail outlet that isn't shilling Frozen DVDs, no matter how out of place. And then look at fanbois who seem to think Maelstrom should get an overlay based on the film. ... It's just a cycle of people not understanding anything about the place they claim to love so much.

No stop. I love the POLY. Even the elevators that remind of Hooters in Vegas
