Ok, so I hardly ever comment about things that arent that big of a deal, like commercials, but wow, that commercial is awful. Why would anyone think that would be a good idea? The train looks like it is traveling at warp speed. And the whole concept is downright childish. The 2 guys saluting one another for wearing sunglasses? Yowza. Disney needs some new advertising execs.

Both Splash and Mine Train commercials are awful. The ONLY defense (and this is not one referencing any sort of quality as far as i'm concerned) is to say that Splash at least was made when that kind of garbage was current and made sense. Mine Train's is like watching an elderly person trying to pretend (and failing dramatically) to be hip but using pop culture references 20-30 years old. They're both extremely terrible as far as i'm concerned, but one shows just how out of touch Disney is with what is current.

And while not a defense of the commercial itself, Splash happens to be an immensely better ride than Mine Train (though Mine Train is a solid ride for what it is). Doesn't make the advert any better, but the sheer awesomeness of the ride itself makes it easier to stomach and ignore such an awful advertisement.

I love almost all of the rides at MK, so I shouldnt complain too much about dumb things like commercials. Splash Mountain is a wonderful ride. Longer, worth the wait, great visuals and fun. PotC is the same for me. Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion are amazing rides. Whether 7DMT will rank up there, I wont know until August, but I am guessing it will be just a tad too childish for most visitors who do not have a 5 yr old or younger with them. I am truly hoping to be wrong though.

An interesting bit from the OS article - http://articles.orlandosentinel.com...519_1_mymagic-walt-disney-world-nick-franklin

States that magic bands are now replacing the wristbands used for the kids clubs the DCL ships.

This is interesting in a few ways.. the old bands sucked. they were bulky. BUT they were designed to be non-removable, as the band is used as a security feature for kids. Yet the magicband is the opposite, designed to be removable (and also not practical for babies/toddlers/etc).

I mean they can repurpose the same core technology, but it's going to have to be implemented differently for those kids clubs. I hadn't seen any noise about that in DCL threads either. So I maybe this is still a 'work in progress'
