If Pandora boat ride is cut, the point of the project would be ruined. The boat ride was to provide a family friendly slow ride. Something the park is indeed lacking. Only adding another "thrill ride" is just foolish and doesn't solve any issue they wished to solve with the addition. It doesn't make it a full day park, doesn't provide more slow family rides, and won't increase attendance. I can't see them going through with this, though we are talking about TDO.

That being said, there is an "if" to this article. There are no concrete facts. It's mostly assumptions. I don't think there is any need to panic at the moment, to be honest. If James Cameron says there will be two rides, there will be two rides.

That's exciting :)

I'm actually very, very excited about the new direction of Star Wars. While I enjoyed many aspects of the EU, some of the stories felt cheapened to me because of what you just said. I get that it's all fiction, but I'd read some books with the idea that, "well this didn't really happen, but it's an interesting story nonetheless."

Going forward with everything part of one continuity, the new books, comics, etc. will get a sense of legitimacy that the old ones never had. I read a couple of the old EU novels, but I'm actually more excited to pick up the new ones to become more in-tune with this singular story. Even the new movies will come with elements of surprise that the prequels by definition could not have.

I don't know much about this Trowbridge move, but if they're planning to make Star Wars land an immersive experience like Potter instead of some attractions plopped here and there, I don't think I could be more excited for Star Wars.

I'm hoping it happens and budgets don't get cut down to nothing. Make it great or don't bother.

(that said, I'm obviously hoping for great!)

The boat ride was the only one I was even interested in for Avatar. I hope this ends up being BS made up by Miceage.

If it were cut, there's not a likely chance it'll be redirected into other better projects. Likely just another cut to cover the nextgen debacle and give the executives their bonus checks. I'd much rather have a great EPCOT overhaul than Avatar in the first place but that doesn't sound like what would be done with the money anyways. There's no reason to praise a project like this getting slashed to pieces when it's inevitably just going to further fill their own wallets instead of being reinvested...

We need some insider comments though before jumping to any conclusions.

And wouldn't Pandora money already be 'spent' basically? I just can't see them having one ride. That's stupid.

Cameron gave an interview not that long ago (within the past month) where he specifically mentioned two rides for Pandora.

Edit: I see that this point was already mentioned. I am very confident that "cutting one of the two rides" would be the kind of important detail that Cameron would be both aware of and have to give final approval for. The negotiation between Cameron and Disney regarding Pandora was drawn out and supposedly contentious at times, but was eventually settled. I would guess that whatever is planned to get built will get built (of coruse there will be minor changes here and there) or else Cameron will back away. I don't see how Disney would be able to unilaterally cut something significant and it would require goign back to the negotiating table.

So at this point, I'd put the Miceage info in the realm of "unsubstantiated rumor" until something far more solid comes up.

Serkis is quickly becoming King of the Nerds, obviously going crazy mo-cap alien or the like. A few other thoughts: 1) No Billy Dee? 2) Max van Sydow is an awesome actor, villain perhaps? 3) Interesting the Boyega, Driver and Issac rumors stayed true. 4) Glad the Sac Efron rumor died on the vine.

Max von Sydow is one of the most underrated actors of his generation. He can play nefarious like nobody else.

Just odd to think of a SW film without James Earl Jones but obviously Vader is dead.

I would love to have seen Billie Dee or Jeremy Bulloch listed. One can dream....sigh.

I'll wait on see on what Miceage is reporting Avatarland because of their credibility is in the last year or so outside of their "Blackfish" information. Al Lutz medical problem is ruining that site in terms of the people giving out the information because its so hit and miss over there now.

If Avatarland is being cut back, GOOD. Maybe TDO is coming to its senses at last. The money for that dumb project could be better spent elsewhere.
If I truly thought they were saving the money that would be spent on the Boat Ride to spend somewhere else in the parks, I'd be more okay with it. Really, though, when have we EVER known that to happen at Walt Disney World in recent times? Sounds like if they're not spending it on Avatar then they're just not spending it.

I want more muppets. I want a walk through of the Muppet Theatre. I want an entire land of Muppets. I want mulch sweat and sheers style band doing "Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem" on the streets.
Actually, I was wrong. I think the boat ride might be cut. According to my 'sources', Cameron has decided to do a crossover land with Avatar and the Muppets.

Also he has scraped his ideas for Avatar 2 and decided to direct "The Muppets Take Pandora" ;)

But here is my argument to that.. The Land is my biggest concern, they already have the land set aside for avatar or pandora or whatever it will be called. If we are getting this land, I want it to be great. I was never a fan of the pandora idea but I am also not rooting for it to be bad because that area of the park will be stuck that way for a long time.
