because their county has no shelters for the estimated 1,216 homeless households with children.

People would live in a shelter over a hotel room? Really? I suspect the real problem is the one highlighted in the lawsuit--motels went for the short-term gain of becoming de facto housing, but don't want all the legal entanglements that come with that. (The law is much kinder to tenants than motel guests.) Unfortunately for Osceola County deputies, until the law is changed, I think they're on the wrong side of it.

With regards to the Disneyland Resort Paris expansion plans, I wish they would start working on that Avengers Kuka ride first before all the placemaking and smaller additions. Something like Forbidden Journey will be unique in Europe and will have people all over Europe talking about it. Also Marvel is hot right now, so this will bring in crowds like there is no tomorrow. With the money they rank in from this, they can do the placemaking projects. Imo, it's go big or go home.

Imagine that talking Mickey knew your name when you entered his backstage dressing room. Imagine your Test Track photo automatically uploaded itself to your PhotoPass account as you pulled into the unload station. Pretend you had a stress-free day knowing that you had reserved times for every single thing you wanted to do, but you also had the flexibility to change plans at a whim. Your Dole whip float will be ready at 3:48 pm.

Yes, that window in Fantasyland just recognized your presence and reacted as you walked by. Yep, the bartender at Epcot already knows your favorite cocktail from your last trip. Your phone is receiving personalized suggestions and tips throughout the day.

And all this convenience encourages you to buy more t-shirts and plastic wands.

That's a sliver of the original plan.
those are really awesome suggestions that can be expanded by using mm+ and magicbands.

I still think it will be funny when they make the Mickey voice actor try to say foreign names.

Not that anyone cares, but I am seriously considering moving to Tokyo. The standard profession for "gaijin" is to teach english, which I would really enjoy. I love sushi, ramen, and lots of other japanese foods.

Yes, it is definitely not all kawaii, but there is a very diverse and interesting society that I would love to study some more.
just careful and try to dont fall to the "Weeabo" stereotype.
I think Criminal Minds is a great one off show. You don't have to watch every episode but each episode is compelling in its own right. Then you have the Mentalist that has a serialized arc and single episode arcs, which I also enjoy.

Care to suggest any new shows I should give a shot? Preferably one I can easily catch up on.

I honestly hate Criminal minds, its getting more and more extreme as the day passes.
Same with Hannibal. they really thrive in the worst types of murders/creepyness/deranged minds... Farming the shock factor I mean.

Worse when in AXN latinamerica.. they spam their ads 24/7 nonstop every commercial break.

Off topic . . .

Mind if I suggest a couple? Elementary, Grimm, White Collar and the sadly gone Psych. I tend to enjoy shows that are a bit different than the usual "procedurals" (although I do enjoy a few of them too).
I Really like Grimm.
Got the first 1 and half seasons already in my PC.
need to get the newer episodes! D:

I like Elementary; White Collar isn't bad either. I haven't seen Grimm yet so perhaps I can check that out. Psych I never really got into though.

OK, I love Modern Family. Have since it premiered. Great writing, acting, directing. The whole shebang and much more real than Big Bang Theory, which would be my second favorite network sitcom.

But sometimes I think ABC wastes the talent. Tonight's episode, which sent the whole gang (except for baby Joe) down under to Australia (with a healthy sponsorship fee tossed in by Qantas) was quite an enjoyable outing ... BUT ... why spend the time and effort to go to Australia and open up some interesting story arcs for the characters all to be done in 23 minutes. Honestly, if the Brady Bunch got two episodes in Hawaii and even King's Island in the 70s I don't see why the whole episode was rushed. It sure wasn't to get to ratings juggernaut Mixology (the worst of ABC's attempts to find a partner for MF in the 9 p.m. hour) .

They should have done an hour. Possibly even an hour tonight with a mini-cliffhanger and another 30 minutes (23 actually) next week.
Agree on the time investment... the only possible reason I'll raise is that one-hour or two-part "super sized" versions of sitcoms almost never, ever work. The writers have their comfort zone to write to 30/23 minutes and anything longer so often feels bloated.

As for last night's show, we all knew the encounter with the Kangaroo wasn't going to work out well for Phil... still I laughed my butt off and replayed the stunt three times. A hoot.

Which gets to the point that nobody can truly survive on service level salary in this society… Unless it's a bartender or waitress at a high-volume place.

Middle-class jobs just on here in Orlando… They're few and far between.

But it's not just Orlando. It's a microcosm of what goes on throughout society as a whole anymore. This is very prevalent in St. Petersburg and Miami and any major city anymore…

Heading for the great escape.
Can I just say I thought Breaking Bad lived up to its title, it was simply mince, great idea but Im sorry Jesse would have been reassigned, plus hes a terrible actor. And while we are at it 24 returns, Hmm wonder who the insider gone bad will be today. Script written on a packet and stretched 10 episodes too long, or maybe they do have the worst vetting process sine MI5 in the 50s.

Somewhere in this topic and in the Disneyland Paris forum a link to some French rumors concerning a 10 year plan for Disneyland Paris, which towards the end of the 10 year plan mentions a huge Marvel e-ticket which could use the Kuka ride system and could be themed to the Avengers. The Spirit mentioned on page 95 here that a Marvel e-ticket which could be themed to the Avengers is inderdaad being planned. Of course these are still rumors, but something I would love to see build and hope not to wait 10 more years for.

Good news, the return of 24 is only going to be 12 episodes.

OK, but, I have to question that even if those people depicted in the Homeless piece were to live in an area with unlimited middle-class jobs, would they be eligible for one? There in lies the problem. Not everyone can be saved, but, they can be supplemented and that is what is happening. People living in motel rooms has been going on for years and years. If they have incentive to work, there are no jobs that can pay them enough money to help due to the lack of skill set, education or ability. The big change and charge for permanent hotel living came with the advent of the interstate highway system which took reasonably successful motels completely off the travel path of tourist and passers through. They were left with empty buildings and decided to rent them on weekly or monthly basis for a rate that could at least pay their expenses. The problem existed before and will, in all likelihood continue on for an undetermined amount of time.

The middle class here has all but disappeared. Either you make 60k+ a year or you make under -25k. The folks that used to work for the big companies here- US steel, bny Mellon, pnc, Koppers, j and l steel, etc etc. can no longer afford to vacation at disney. Their health insurance premiums have sky rocketed, tuition for kids is high and the public schools are terrible here, rent is high, mortgages higher, and pittsburghers like most people are nickel and dimed so hard that vacations are a distant memory. Those who are vacationing seem to be going to virginia beach, jersey shore, Lake Erie (eww)... In other words, within a days drive, and over the course of an extended weekend versus a week in Florida.

This all circles back to disney doing a fine job of pricing themselves out of their target audience. You're right, no one can survive on service level salary, but more and more people can barely make it on $10 an hour as well. Money doesn't stretch nearly as far as it used to.

I don't know what to make of that article. I can't help but feel angry but I fear it's directed at the wrong folks and for the wrong reasons.
