And Studio Ghibli, who totally fit into Disney, were left for dead.

I just saw The Secret World of Arrietty the other day and really enjoyed it. It's not quite as strong as some of Studio Ghibli's earlier efforts, but it's still very good.

It's also more marketable in the U.S. than a "quirkier" movie like Ponyo -- Arrietty is much more "mainstream" than many of the Ghibli films, and really could have done well in the U.S. had Disney just dedicated the effort and resources to market it properly. Alas, they did not.

Mr. Bricker stayed at WL this week. Perhaps he could shed some light on this...and post some pics of that stunning resort.

I can't help but think a place like WL is a waste for someone who sleeps about one hour and 32 minutes a night when at a Disney resort. What say you @WDWFigment?

I truly think SAM "gets it". The rest of them...

Well, it goes back to what I've now been saying online for a few years now: they exist largely to justify existing. That just doesn't shout out value to the company to me. social media certainly could be ... but not the way Celebration Place plays the game, which largely is pay for every Mommy Blogging to come to WDW or cruise multiple times a year. And then get the consultants who also have jobs that exist to justify themselves tell TDO that the metrics are somehow worth all the money being spent.

MonsterU's website is also quite a lot better than many colleges' websites (and many on the academic boards have noticed that as well)

The Monsters U website is great. I heard it was even "hacked" by Fear Tech on April Fool's Day.

The other great thing about the Monsters U website is the fact that, for the longest time, there was really cool, unique merchandise that you could order only by going through the MU website directly. (That's been changed recently, so that you can find all the stuff on the main Disney online shopping site.) I love my official Monsters University 4-arm hoodie!

I would be more apt to agree if they hadn't of done this last year with John Carter. ... and if they did nothing to make this film fail, they certainly has done nothing to make it soar.

Marvel is well run, no doubt. But like I've said before, just wait until a one of their films bombs ... and I could see it happening with Thor 2. ... But I still look at Marvel like the red-headed stepchild ... they don't fit into Disney in any way. They are just there because Iger wanted them.
Thor did ok though. Not hugely spectacular the way Ironman did certainly, but it had a "solid" take overall. And there is more awareness of the character since the entire world decided to see The Avengers. He didnt look bad in that movie. Ironman 3 certainly got a post-Avengers boost. Thor and the Cap might not see as big of one, but I expect it to be there. That they are bringing back Loki is also good since he's the most interesting part of the Thor universe. The trailer wasnt spectacular, but it showed enough action/interesting visuals, and showing Loki at the end was a very smart move.

I would be extremely surprised to see it flop... If they really decide to make Ant-Man, that'll be the flop, not the two upcoming Marvel sequels. And Marvel does know how to market as previously discussed.

In fact, I'm a wee bit confused by the Thor 2 hate. I've seen all the phase 1 movies and beyond. Thor was probably the "blandest," but it wasnt completely horrible. It was just average in my book. Honestly, it turned out better than I thought it would given the hokey origin story of the character.

I'm not hating on Thor. I never saw the first and doubt I'll see the second.

The only Marvel films I have seen were Captain America and The Avengers and I enjoyed both, the former more than the latter. Well, except for all those Spidey films (but their most important and well-known character isn't really theirs when it comes to films).

I'm just using it as an example that there are way too many superhero films out and Marvel is flooding the market, so it stands to reason that they are gonna run into a dud sooner or later. They are no Pixar.

I can agree with you on that. They will definitely develop a character for the screen who doesn't quite connect. Like I said, I see Ant-Man as a possibility, though Guardians of the Galaxy will certainly be an interesting one to watch. I think the two sequels will do just fine though. I actually hope they do. I found Thor average, but enjoyable as I said. Captain America was pretty good, though it isn't my favorite.

I think I'm most tired of the X-men to be honest. (Obviously that's Marvel... Yet not.). But it feels like there's been way too many Wolverine movies. I admittedly haven't seen First Class, which is supposed to be decent, but still, there just has seemed to be way too many X-men. Spidey too, but I get why they rebooted the series.

When you have time watch the first Iron man movie. It's the best of the bunch.

Despicable Me 2 was incredible! That is where my money went this week!

That and World War Z are on this week's menu. And I will have plenty of time for them, apparently.

But right now I'd love to argue about The Lone Ranger ... imagine that ... the Evil, Vile Commie, Disney Hating, Fanboi Tear Causing Spirit likes something from Disney (quite a bit) and it seems very few agree.
