I was really excited for Star Trek The Motion Picture. For most Trekkies, that was a bigger letdown than Phantom Menace. At least you knew two more Star Wars were going to follow regardless and Menace didn't have whinny teenage Anakin Skywalker.;)

After the disaster known as STTMP, I thought Star Trek was dead.
And if I remember correctly, it was Michael Eisner who revived Star Trek when he was still at Paramount, and green lit Star Trek 2.

Just got back from Man of Steel, and I enjoyed it. The local cinema was not able to fill both theaters. I don't know if that is because people did not want to go to Walmart on a Saturday morning or because they're not in that much of a rush to see the film. The 3D was pretty much pointless. One issue I have with these sorts of action films is they prove the saying "One death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic." We basically watch a major city get destroyed, something that cannot happen without the deaths of many thousands, if not millions, of people, but everything is just fine afterwards.

Agreed and that plays out in EVERY big budget popcorn flick. They always make scenarios where thousands (or much worse) innocents die and that is played like nothing really happened. That bothers me in every film that I see it and was thinking of that during Star Trek Into Darkness. From the attack on San Francisco early on to the souls on the Enterprise when it gets attacked by the film's heavy, it's almost like they become 'toons or objects.Sure, Kirk cried when Pike bought it because he was an important character, but how many died in the end? It's something we're not supposed to think about.

Its what's called "The Echo Chamber" effect.

Basically the same rumor or bad information just keep bouncing around and people treating it as if its gospel.

Until we get someone with @Lee's reputation, then there's no need to keep feeding it beyond saying "its a rumor but nothing solid."

Reputation?!?!? @Lee??!?!?

Right now, he has a rep of putting his friends up in tents in the backyard. Mrs. Lee is gonna hear about this!

How are the hotels? Thinking of a possible honeymoon there. Would you choose Paris or Tokyo?

That's a very hard question. Paris is the City of Love, after all. Tokyo is an amazing place in its own right, but I don't find it a romantic place where you can also visit Disney parks that are the best in the world.

The hotels at TDR are VERY pricey. I like them all to some degree, but there's only one that I think I'd stay at and that's the Mira Costa. I haven't stayed in any, but visited and dined and drank and shopped at them all.

At DLP I would never stay at the hotels. Absurdly priced and the worst maintained in the world. And downtown Paris (i.e. the Eiffel Tower) is 35 minutes away by train. Some of the resorts are just getting their first ever top to bottom room renovations. They opened in 1992, so you do the math. I highly reccommend the Marriott Vacation Club at DLP (to be fair, I spent a week in a Grand Villa so I am spoiled) as it is beautiful, peaceful and 10 minutes from the resort and the metro.

I'll just say that BoG is terribly overrated, much of it coming from Disney Lifestylers/social media. The room is loud and not greatly detailed. You don't have a table cloth. The food is mediocre. The prices are ridiculous. And the service I experienced was downright awful. The Mommy Blogging Brigade can have it.

This may be sort of a silly question, but, like, what's the story with Be Our Guest? I visited in January (lunch and dinner) and felt some very contrasting emotions. For all the things I enjoyed about it, I definitely feel like something went "wrong" in the development of the place. Which is weird, because I'm sure it cost a pretty penny . . . I feel like I'm missing something - politics, budgets, redesign? Something must have taken this totally golden concept of building a Beauty and the Beast Restaurant and thrown a weird wrench into the mix. I feel like the result doesn't portray a creative project that sailed smoothly from start to finish, and I don't think I'm alone in that thought. Would love to know more about what happened here.

The PB posted a decent after dark photo of Mysterious Island at Tokyo DisneySea:

Is this the best themed land in that park or to a greater extent the best themed land WDI has ever done?

Yes, yes, yes....oh and DisneySea completely transforms at night...the lighting of EVERY area, every land is spectatular at night.

I hope you are right about This Is The End ...it seems to have potential, but I've heard mixed things.
Your pal Damon liked it, according to his tweet.
Very funny movie. I laughed much.
As to Sopranos, I didn't care because I wasn't a regular viewer. But I still think the ending was incredibly weak ... it was the creatives thinking they couldn't come up with a suitable ending, so they wouldn't ... they'd let people decide for themselves. Weak.
I disagree, but then I've done some reading up on the thought process behind the ending. It makes sense when you understand what actually happened and what David Chase was trying to say.

I too ate at BOG last week AND stayed at the sister resort the Yacht Club, and I share your sentiments. YC merchandise had exactly 1 resort specific clothing item for men...a basic polo with Yacht Club embroidered on it. I went by BC gift shop as well, and as limited as the offerings were, they still had more than YC. Similar thoughts on BOG as well. Obviously it is priced for the experience rather than the quality of food, but I thought the meal was more than adequate. You just have to determine if the atmosphere is worth the cost, and for us it was...one time.

We have no plans to even try eating at BOG again for dinner any time soon. It is totally worth doing once, IMO, but not good enough to warrant the trouble again until things calm down.
