Something like that wouldn't sit right with me. I've been visiting DCA since its opening year... Changing it in that way just wouldn't be right, IMO.
Well, it was a poorly realized theme and I think the locals rejected it. If I still had a bare parking lot I would not have built a second gate in Anaheim but one must adapt to the circumstances

I think many of us have similar backgrounds in that respect. The thing that really makes me angry is when the DOM Brigade calls me a hater. If I was a hater why would I even bother to say anything I would be completely apathetic. I literally fell in love with this place at a young age and I can't describe how painful it is for me to see it's decline.
I agree. What has become of the Magic Kingdom and Disney in Florida as a whole, is terrible. And, I have nothing to add to that (actually, I have a lot, but I don't want to rant for a while repeating observations others have already made)...

No reason to think... It's a fact that locals rejected it. Still, the park is what it is (some parts of it anyway).
It really isn't a concept park in the same way EPCOT or Animal Kingdom is. The California theme was just so half-baked and poorly thought-out that you have to discard it and I think that is what they are doing and it seems to be working.

OK, I give up ...anyone want to summarize pages 438-456? Do not have the time or desire to attempt a catchup.
Nothing much. Flynn coming out the closet and revealing himself a sociologist, Bolna and nytimez and Pacman trashtalking you behind your back, Sue posting pics of herself topless on a French beach, Lee hurridly breaking the news that Monsters has been greenlit for DCA, Lazyboy outed as alt account of EPCOT Explorer.

The Red Car Trolley was twice considered for the Disney-MGM Studios, first for Hollywood Blvd and then again for Sunset Blvd. Bob Weis oversaw all three projects and finally got his Red Car when he was brought back to Walt Disney Imagineering to fix Disney's California Adventure.
Ha! I knew that sounded familiar!
Not quite. The Red Car that opened last summer was Bob Weis' third attempt at getting a Red Car strolling down a Disney theme park. He wanted a Red Car going down Hollywood Blvd at the Disney-MGM Studios when he was designing that park in the late 80s. He tried again to include a Red Car on Sunset Blvd when that same park was being expanded in the early 90s.

If it's what they were doing, they would have discarded its name at what would have been the perfect time to do so, which was last June. They wouldn't have put in the California/Los Angeles references in the new entrance, either.

They were copying HS...it was very obvious when I went. They did it better (for example, at HS Carthay Circle isn't a landmark, it's a shop)...but, that's what that area was.

I know it's a copy. It's still a Los Angeles reference, though.

When I said "entrance", I was also referring to Buena Vista Street.

Oh yes, the whole park originally was LA...

LA on the east coast. Hollywood brought to us East Coast rubes.

And, over here, it makes a whole lot of sense.

I have something to add to that... MONORAIL FOOTERS!

I'm out of my hibernation and I have a new opinion (if any one cares).

I've often said that Disney needs to leverage their assets to get a better Marvel deal. I know others here have told me this, but I just now "got it"...

Disney makes money every time anyone visits WDW or USO! So, that Marvel deal actually is pretty sweet for Disney!

HOWEVER, it is ANTI-COMPETITIVE and, while it benefits Disney, it does NOT benefit the consumer, especially Disney customers!

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Federal Trade Commission launch an anti-trust investigation into anti-competitive practices of Walt Disney Enterprises enabled by the agreement the company had grandfathered into between its Marvel subsidiary and USO, it's biggest Central Florida "competitor".

Such an arrangement between rival competitors enables one company (WDE) to benefit without competition, since that company will benefit regardless of resort consumers choose on visiting. Under the United States anti-trust legal framework, the government has the power - as well as an obligation - to forcably nullify and invalidate the Marvel-USO deal!

Um...no. Thanks for playing. I won't get legal or political, since I work around that all day.

Sunset is where I see it making the most sense...but, then again, they barely run the horse trolley at MK anymore (due to crowds, I assume is the excuse).

The Main St. vehicles / streetcars were two things that when I went to DLC immediately tossed me back into my childhood...where they were common at MK (and even Epcot back in the World Showcase)...

No the trolley shows still runs three times a day with three stops. Sadly to say, it's been that way for 10 years.

Yes, you can burn a lot of calories at Disney. If you walk. In an ECV, not so much.

Oh dear sweet Jesus. I can't tell you how many times these people and I'm ECV think that they can get through a crowd of 30 to 40,000 people and adults is part the Red Sea like Moses.

Baloney. And I say baloney because Steve already yelled at me for my language once today.

I understand some people are on a scooter because they have to like the woman I met today with a traumatic brain injury. However she's not trying to go down Hollywood Boulevard right after the fireworks when there's 30,000 people around her.

You cannot drive a vehicle thru a largely populated area like that. It is densely populated and if you are in a vehicle even if it is a medical device you need to wait your happy .

The California thing is more of a backdrop. The park is not message focused like Epcot or Animal Kingdom. Same with DHS, it's a conceptual backdrop more than one unified statement. Epcot and Animal Kingdom are really the only of the parks in which the entire park is one complete thought or message. the Magic Kingdoms are pretty much a collection of different ideas divided by land or genre.

I hope you watched the video I posted, its exactly what you are talking about! I think even stranger was that no one said anything to her, jut stared at her like she was insane (which she is...LOL)

That video and then the South Park scooters in Disney parody video are my 2 favorite examples of this disgusting behavior going on! Too Funny...
