How so? It seems like a mutually beneficial relationship to me, but I would like to know how you feel they are being taken advantage of. Is it because you do indeed think some of them are mentally ill? (No snark intended, I am genuinely curious).

Think about it. If each of these bloggers sites attract just one additional family to go to WDW each, it was worth well more than the small amount that Disney spent to assure their continued cooperation by not discussing the bad with the good on their site.

Prove you actually have the all-knowing, superior capabilities you claim.

:D

That made me laugh ... I don't think I ever claimed in any of my posts to be all knowing but hey, you read into them what you want. Their are actually good social sites that do a good job of showing both the good and the bad without OD'ing on pixie dust and free perks. Tom Bricker actually has a great site that is very objective ... DisneyTouristBlog ... so it can be done and done well.

MisterID beat me to the point, but again, nobody - not a single soul here - has suggested or even hinted that everything is doom and gloom, or that everything is a problem. Certainly there are many, many faults within Disney in 2013, but people are hardly finding fault where none exists.

So then one could say that some of the bloggers we are attacking dont say "everything" positive???

So what is your problem then with someone who only puts out positive stories?

Are people who 'only have nice things to say' about someone wrong in some way? Are they too being bought?

Or can you simply not accept the fact that not every person is required to cover every angle. Some people just have no interest in negative energy. That's their choice. If you don't like that type of person... why on earth are you wasting your time reading what they have to say?

I don't have a "problem" with anything related to this subject.

Having nice things to say is always right.

I don't think you are in a position to to decide what I accept and don't.

It's not "negative energy" they refuse to write about. They are glaring factual deficiencies both at the park and corporate levels.

It has nothing to do with liking the person. It is the fact that they claim to be covering the day to day at WDW.
Maybe what they do should be described as giving you all and only the positive news and reviews so I continue to get free cruises and invites.

your up......insert the last word..........................................................now

I think they genuinely positioned little Mermaid to be that anchor. After seeing videos of it though, I have to wonder why...
FLE has been a really strange misstep. Compared to the Fantasyland that Tony Baxter spearheaded for Disneyland, it's been kind of all over the place thematically as well.

Maybe it's a "Too many cooks in the kitchen" leadership by committee problem
I think it's more of too many corners cut by management. I can all but guarantee you the higher-ups in WDI would have liked to do a LOT more than what the final product suggests. I can also tell you that there are probably people in WDI who are now saying "I told you this would happen." to some of the higher-ups in TDO.

No offense but you can't approach everything like an programming exercise. Darn engineers...always to practical and analytic. :)

The issue is people see a behavior.. and they are trying to reverse engineer the cause. Then.. taking that conclusion, and applying it across the board.

The problem is they screwed up their interpretation of the problem.. hence their forward applying of the logic gets it wrong.. as well as getting the answer right some of the time.

Or to put it in simple terms... 'not necessarily...' . The formula that has been devised here is faulty.. a forumula derived from the fallacies I outlined previously. The result... conclusions that are right sometimes.. and wrong others.

In science.. we simply call that 'wrong' :D

standard practice is most companies that are skitish of scrutiny or anyone who deals with government. government is very strict on the gift guidelines. On everything from travel, lodging, food, gifts, etc.
Add advertising and the automotive industry to that list as well.

Anyone seen this yet? Bloomberg Article

After a summer movie season that saw one of its biggest financial flops ever, the Jerry Bruckheimer-Johnny Depp film “The Lone Ranger,” Rasulo said Disney plans to limit the budgets on motion pictures to limit risks.

The curbs will apply to major films that aren’t part of movie series, he said.

“We feel very, very good about the direction our slate is headed in,” Rasulo said. “We’ve also learned that there needs to be a cap on tentpole, nonfranchise films.”

Obviously, that was the lesson to be learned here. Good Lord.

again... it is simply amazing how this is becoming the most negative Disney message board around... and i'm not just talking about opinions toward Disney... but others in general

so let me get this straight...we are arguing now that a fan of Disney that has a website blog and podcast gives glowing reviews (about a restaurant he recently ate at) and shares with us his exciting information on something he loves.....we're now saying these people MUST be negative right? good grief

people are upset because he's a fan and isn't negative like half the people on this message board... is that seriously what I am hearing?

Don't forget that he is giving the good review because he received a $50 gift card:arghh:

So you feel wdwmagic is faulty in the same way? Since he doesn't report on the 'factual deficiencies both at the park and corporate level' when he selects what to publish?

You're hinging this all on what they chose to publish... and judging them because they chose to publish stories you think are only part of the story. Ok, apply that logic to everyone.. and call out wdwmagic for not telling all sides of the story.

Does he take free swag?

Does he give non stop glowing reviews of everything that comes across the bow?

If so ..........calling

Agreed. Some people take our discussions of themed amusement parks to extremes. Just tread lightly around here being so well reasoned. That's about as welcome around here as stating you actually LIKE some of New Fantasyland. Bite your tongue!
I will admit to liking aspects of the New Fantasyland. unfortunately the things I do like cannot save it if the overall package is weak.

No.. and yet he doesn't report negative news on the front page. So, why do you conclude people only report positive things only because of swag?

The example highlights

swag => bias is not universal...

and

lack of negative post does not mean they must be biased

How do you explain the lack of wdwmagic's negative coverage of WDW in your logic rules..

or how about wdwfigment? He gets Disney perks... yet he can still report negative things.

The absolutes do not work.

PLEASE MAN
You must simply stop telling me and others what they think, believe, and conclude.

Its a clever tactic to dominate every discussion that comes this way.

Before this goes any further...

Believing that a gift CAN influence a review, coverage or opinion is absolutely NOT the same as believing that a gift will ALWAYS influence review, coverage or opinion.

It takes quite a leap to get from A to B there.

Carry on...

My issue isn't with the perks ... it's with the lack of disclosure, the difference between Tom and Ricky (and a few others) is that Tom actually comes right out on his site and says: 'Yes, I am getting either reimbursed by Disney, comped, or getting a special room rates.' Inside the Magic has no such thing, anywhere on their site, and I believe that they are required to by FCC Law.

The same goes for several others ... I see no disclaimer from others who have their own Disney Social Sites, all of which who are claiming to be News Sources for Disney World, and who are selling ad space on their sites ... and it's concerning.

Dunn's when it was still there. Once the old man at the door (I assume Mr. Dunn, never asked) passed away, so did the business. It was amazing, I don't care what time of the day or night you went there he was at the door, all dressed in a black suit and greeted everyone with a smile. More for the sake of convenience I then went to Rubens next door after Dunn's closed. Not the same, but pretty close.

FYI - Dunn's is back they now have multiple locations. http://www.dunnsfamous.com
