Call me a skeptic, but there's an old saying - If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I'm sure there is a catch.

I came real close to joining it but found out yes they have $9 airfare + taxes and stuff about one flight a day not every day just the 'undesireable' times nobody wants to go on and usually tues thru thurs. All hype.

hmmmm....If spirit airlines was here in Indy I might join. Who cares about "undesirable" times and travel days if the fare is nine dolllars? I spend almost as much as that a day in gas for my car and lunch at work. Heck yes, I would travel for that! Let us know if it is real and how it works out for you.

There are $9 sales but they are infrequent, time sensitive and usually on short routes like Tampa to Orlando. They also have variations of the sale with seats going for $29, $39,$59 and $99 each way, again depending on destination and time of week and year.
Members do get $9 off all regular seats. However Spirit also runs other sales available to the general public without membership that can have significant savings, which is why I'll be cancelling my membership at the end of its term.

This is NOT a scam! I am a member... flew from Detroit to Orlando last year for $8 each way ($16 rd trip). With taxes and fees it was $184 for FIVE of us to fly to Disney. We had a 5 day trip. The return dates were limited, so we didn't get to do our typical week, but for that price, WHATEVER! We typically spend up to $1000 for 5 of us to fly.

If you can be flexible... and travel on short notice (we bought our tix Dec 16 for travel Jan 4) it can be a very economical way to go! We have also gone to Las Vegas for $19 each way. Fares go quickly, so if you see a good fare, take it! :)

We fly Spirit out of AC to orlando. Last Sept. we picked up the $9 flights but as others said you need to be flexable. They do have a $10 fee for each piece for luggage you bring and $10 charge if you want assigned seating. We do a big piece and carry on's. Most of the $9 flights will be midweek and that works for us.

Yeah, it's for real, it's not just $9 fares, if you join the "club" you get advance notice on all kinds of special fares and can save a little bit on every flight. One thing to be cautious of with Spirit is that they change and eliminate flights constantly! We fly out of Detroit and have had our flights changed for our last trip, our upcoming May trip and our upcoming December trip. For our May trip we had booked a late flight home (somewhere around 6:00 PM I think) and I guess the eliminated that flight and changed us to a 10:00 AM flight! We called and they did put us on a 2:30 flight and didn't charge us for switching but we also now have a layover where before we were non stop and we had to give up the "big front seat". I know that they have the right to make whatever changes they want, but that much of a difference really made me angry, we picked that late flight so we could enjoy almost a full day on our departure day.

Spirit $9 club

Yes it is real but read all the information. But with all the fees like luggage and sancks and drinks on the plane and seat charges it adds up to a regular ticket.

You can get some seats for as low as 0.02 cents. Seriously. Fare members get advance knowledge, but they are open to the general public

Sign up for their RED LIGHT SPECIALS. That's free.

I used them to fly from Orlando to Atlanta once last year. The flight was good and you can't beat a 9$ ticket. They do charge for baggage and food and drinks but I don't usually need more than one carry-on bag and the last time I flew I brought my own drink on the flight.
