Spiderman- 10 years and still nothing's topped it?

Because to me it is a fact. And the fact that most industry insiders rank Spider-man as the best attraction out there, it is a widely shared opinion.

I've read in several places that it's the most technologically advanced ride there is, not that it's necessarily the best.

What do you find incoherent about the story? I thought it was just film set took over by Imhotep.

The story depends on you watching the queue video prior to the ride... however, there's a design flaw in that the monitors are only in the "Studio" portion of the queue while mos t do the majority of the waiting on the "Set"... add to the fact that most guests don't pay attention to it anyway, the ride often can be seen as confusing... especially the ending.

Hasn't Spider-Man been rated the #1 Orlando attraction on the Theme Park Insider (or something of that nature) for quite a few years now?

Yup. I'm fairly sure it beat out Everest the year EE opened.

That doesn't surprise me. While the theming and build-in to Everest are top-notch, the ride itself is nothing special.

Where on theme park insider are the ratings listed from best to worst? All I can see is their rating number. Spider-Man has a 9 out of 10, but then again, so do a lot of attractions.

I think some people are looking at this thread the wrong way, what is the argument here.
As far as technology goes Spiderman is top notch. Complaining about using a screen to create the illusion is like me complaing that on POTC there are no real pirates or that on HM those arent really ghosts. You ride the ride to enjoy it and get that feeling of excitement.
What is the best ride out there right now? It is everyone's personal opinion. Do I think it is Spiderman? It is top 3 but you cant argue with the fact that it has won awards year in and year out.

My favorite is still The Tower of Terror.

Another question from the big chicken here...

With all the rave reviews about Spiderman, I really want to try it when we go in October, but for those of you who may have noticed the theme to my recent posts, I'm a huge chicken! LOL. I am terrified of rollercoasters although I was persuaded to go on Test Track 2 years ago and loved it. I will never go on EE or RnRC or ToT though. For someone like me, how scary is Spiderman? Is the big "drop" I've heard of comparable to a rollercoaster, or is it different? If I get really scared, will closing my eyes help reduce the sense of movement? I want to give it a shot, but I hate not knowing what to expect. How far into the ride is that big "drop"? Thanks guys.

I can give you a fair description, but it would spoil one of the most ingenious parts of the ride... read on if you like, but

SPOILERS

Your ride vehicles always stay on the ground and never move up or downward in any way - the "big drop" is completely simulated with fans and movement, but seems quite convincing. There's a couple spins and jerks in there as well, but nothing overly rough or neck-breaking...

END SPOILERS

If you were able to handle Test Track (and loved it), then I can't imagine you having a problem with Spider-Man. If the drop freaks you out that much, you can, like you said, just close your eyes if you'd like. Have an awesome trip!

With that said, the "big drop" doesnt feel at all like a big drop. Atleast it didnt to me. I know some people have had different experiences though....
