Spider-Man to Join Marvel Films

I don't expect a ton of crossover in and out of the Netflix series. Hardcore fans will get to see them as part of the integrated universe but they can't put too much weight on the shows or they'll confuse the casual movie audience.

I would agree that I don't expect the Netflix actors to be in the movies, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some name dropping of those characters in Civil War as a way of expanding the pool of "superheroes" in the MCU.

I believe I read somewhere that the leaked plan was for at the end of Avengers 2 a new "team" to form and it would consist of mostly smaller heroes (Strange, Black Panther, The netflix crew, etc.) and it would be led by Cap. They would then be in Infinity Wars Part 1 with Part 2 bringing both teams together to fight Thanos.

Off the bat -- this means $200-300 million in added MCU revenue over the next 3 years. It is a no brainer that shoehorning in Spidey to Antman. Either as a stinger or like Hawkeye in Thor 1.

True, but Pascal is an idiot. Anyone who thinks completely re-booting the Ghostbusters with women and ignoring the previous movies as well as making the 21 Jump Street characters the new Men In Black shouldn't be trusted with ANY movie franchise.

I'll be honest, I don't have a problem with either of those.

And it seems they found a way to lower my excitement for this already:

I really hope they find a way to do this without making it another orgin story.

Marvel has more or less said they won't do another origin story. Expect something like the opening credits of The Incredible Hulk where we flash through Hulk's origins.

But Spider-Man works best in High School. His teenage years are by far his most interesting as a hero.

FWIW, 21 and 22 Jump Street with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill were entertaining movies.

Especially since Ant Man needs publicity a lot more than a potential film with Cap, Stark, AND Spidey.
I think the best way to give Ant-Man publicity is to have Hank Pym show up at the end of Avengers 2, maybe being on a council for the superhero registration act. That way you don't have to waste a post-credit scene on Ant-Man and in case anyone leaves before, they got a small teaser for Ant-Man showing relevance.

Also (possible spoiler) Thanos is supposedly in the dream sequence given to Tony via Scarlet Witch, where he sees Cap's shield broken in the trailer. Apparently this was with more depth in the comic-con trailer.

I have a feeling the 2nd post credits scene of Avengers 2 is going to be Spider-Man at this point. The 1st is rumored to be Thor/Loki to kick off Ragnarok. But that would be awesome to see Spider-Man looking at the aftermath of the film, and thinking to himself that he has to do something - a lead in to Civil War.

Though it could all be different. I'm just happy we got Spider-Man back where he belongs.

Years later and you're STILL wrong about Sony giving Marvel back the rights to Spider-man. Thanks for reminding me.
Baby steps but steps nonetheless. I will remind you that I said this could happen and was heavily criticized for it. I return as my predictions happen and as time permits. Just waiting for the SW details. More even than Pandora. Goodnight. And good luck.

A teaser for Spider-Man could be as simple as one of the baby Ultrons being tied up in a web. No need for casting or new digital character models, but everybody would get it.

I don't know the full Avengers story line from the comics. But I thought I remember Hank Pym being the one responsible for Ultron's creation? So is he a main part of Avengers 2? Or did Marvel just change that whole stroyline for the movies? Because I don't see him in any of the trailers, but I would have a real problem with Marvel changing things so much.

Ultron will be a Stark / Banner (primarily Stark) creation in the MCU. Press releases have indicated that the technology they use for Ultron came (at least in part) from software they found among the wreckage after the Battle of New York. This has led many people to believe it's Chitauri technology, but it's possible that the wreckage came from one of the buildings that was destroyed in the battle. My personal theory is that the software is Pym's and Stark just happened to stumble across it.

Comic book Hank Pym is the most miserable SOB you can possibly imagine. I'm thrilled that they're limiting his role in things. Not only that, but he would have had to be established six movies ago for there to be the emotional impact the audience will feel at fan-favorite Tony Stark becoming a villain.

Yeah, movie Ultron is built by Stark. But he bases it on a prototype and there are strong rumors that the original basis is developed by Pym (and Howard Stark maybe?) decades earlier. There's a flashback scene in Ant-Man featuring younger Hank Pym so it's possible that will delve into Ultron's origin.

Fair analysis and good point, I suppose it's not so bad. I honestly don't remember a lot about Pym, just that he was pretty crucial in the Ultron storyline. But perhaps his character did not translate so well into the MCU and therefore they changed some of the story, for the better.

EDIT: Although they are making an Ant-Man movie which does sort of fly in the face of this logic.
