Satire IS negative. The difference between satire and pure negativity is that satire is intended to be funny. The map is satire. It is poking fun at something in an exaggerated way.

Some people get it and some people don't. Of the people who get it, some find it funny and some don''t. Then there are the people who both don't find it funny AND are offended.

Humor has to cross a pretty big line to offend me. I can only speak for myself, but I find the ability to laugh at oneself to be a good quality.

I didn't laugh once at this. I'm all for satire and poking fun, but this is just a load of unfunny whiny crap, TBH. Maybe I should find the person who writes this garbage, draw a map of their home and do the same thing to them. But hey, maybe I'm just the idiot that likes to focus on the positive aspects of WDW...

There are some left?, Quick call accountaneering and remove them PRONTO.

You can love something and laugh at it too. Finding humor in this map doesn't make you any less of a Disney fanatic. It just means you see the park realistically and choose to find humor in lieu of frustration. Some of you sound concerned that they'll take your Disney fanatic badge away if you crack a smile at this. Lighten up.

They think that if they parrot the company line Disney will give them extra FP+ or something, Of course in reality Disney simply laughs at them and takes their money.

If people talk bad about Disney, they'll lose money and go out of business! Do you want that? DO YOU WANT THAT!

Listen up, everyone that didn't laugh hysterically at the map-we are all deeply depressed, dark people, who need to lighten up. We laugh at absolutely nothing-humor has no part in our lives, and it MUST! WE NEED TO CHANGE! This map is the ultimate determination of humor, and if we don't find it funny, we are determined to die sad and lonely, and, if we don't change, we will be ridiculed until the end of time! Hurry, before it is too late for all of us! :hilarious:

As long as you don't over react to this, you will be fine. No one reacted until someone invented a number of reasons why we should all be upset about it. It didn't start out that way. If one didn't find it funny, who gives a tiny rats butt, but you fail to see, that attempting to point out to us a group of non-existing things that we should be inflamed about, probably won't happen.

Bottom line, if you didn't find it funny. OK, move along to the next thread. Finding it funny is no less legitimate than not finding it funny. Inventing something about how people are trying to be negative about Disney, is as foolish as saying that everything Disney does is great. Reading to much into something is not a virtue just to be offended by it. Be offended on your own time and the rest of us will not have a reason to throw the lack of humor bomb at you.

I don't think I ever overreacted. I stated why I didn't think it was funny. Not once did I indicate that I was offended. If people had reacted by simply saying "I don't agree, I think it's funny", I wouldn't have posted anything else on this post, but I was repeatedly told to calm down, lighten up, etc. I am not interested in starting confrontations or arguments on here, and I refuse to react to anyone's opinion on something with anything other than stating my opinion, but alot of the reaction to my opinions on the map were met with telling me I was wrong in so many words. In any event, I mean no ill will to you, or anyone else on this forum, as it all boils down to the fact that this is a forum about a theme park, which is not really that important in the grand scheme of things. Now, if this was a forum on politics, then we might have some real heated discussions happening...

After reading all 7 pages, my conclusion is that there is a good chunk of people who are wound way too effing tight. The attribution of underlying motive and over the top discussion about what is funny and what isn't really misses the point methinks.

Only on a Disney fan site could people argue over what is funny, why it should be funny, what type of person you are if you don't find the whole thing funny, or the type of person you are if you find it funny.

I posted this video in another thread awhile ago.. but this is my favorite Disney "judgement" There's not even a possibility that someone could claim this is not funny, or not great, or not clever ;) This woman should have written the map ;)

Check out this video on YouTube:
