Obviously it wont be a direct clone of the DCA original. But putting it in The Land makes perfect sense. They could utilze that scent system that is used in the DCA Soarin (where you smell oranges), but only use it a lot more- smelling the different foods as you fly over their crops. I dunno.... Any thoughts?

Speculation on Soarin' Over....

I think that retroeric meant that it can't be a direct clone because EPCOT's version won't feature scenery of California.
I would like to see some type of tie-in like aviation, similar to the queue/pre-show in DCA.

Exactly. Soarin Over California, is just that. A ride over California, which would make no sense in Florida. Even a "Soarin' over Florida" wouldn't quite fit within the theming of The Land. I believe this ride would have to be some sort of American agriculture theme. But yes, it will use the exact same ride technology. Maybe even the same motor movements like Dinosaur AK uses the same movements as Indiana Jones DL.

Exactly. This pavillion will serve as a good headquarters for Epcot's celebration. And if people have no problem watching films about France, Japan, and China, where other Disney Resorts are located, they should have no problem seeing California...

I don't have a clue what you would be Soarin' over. Hopefully not crops...I just don't think that would bring a lot of ppl onto the ride.
In my opinion, Soarin' Over (or through) different Disney movies would really kick butt!!

The France film is located inside... the France pavilion. The China film is located inside... the China pavilion. That makes sense. Putting a California film inside the Land, or anywhere else in Future World, doesn't.
And as cool as the Soarin through Disney movies sounds, that is extremely unlikely. Folks this is Epcot we're talking about right?

I would love to see this come to Epcot, hopefully with a different film than that of DCA. I dont think a California film makes sense here at all. It bums me out that they would be removing Food Rocks for the queue of Soarin'. I think thats one of the funniest shows at WDW.

Epcot's Soarin... will probably be its own pavilion/building and not touch The Land in any way. Doing what the rumors suggest don't sound feasible.
As for Al Lutz...please take everything that he says with a grain of salt! He may have been right about some things (like Disneyland closing its Country Bear attraction), but many times, Lutz has been dead wrong! Lutz's info is very frequently useless...he can't seem to make up his mind regarding things and he complains about Disney, Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure, etc. TOO MUCH!

Hope everyone is doing ok.
Here is my thought on Soaring Over attraction: My home was the Land Pavillion for about a year working in the Green Thumb Emporium and on Living With the Land. I heard alot of complaints about The Circle of Life (upstairs) and I for one think that this should no longer be an attraction and Soaring Over should be moved into here! I agree with a previous posting that Food Rocks will be around for a good while, alot of people love that show (as do I.....Kitchen Police Rock!..lol).
As far as what should it be flying over, I think they should go back into their Disney attraction archives and look at film footage from Horizons (where you pick your future at the end of the ride) and look at footage of "American Journies" the circle vision 360 film that was in Tomorrowland, and possibly look at Dream Flight. I think flying over the United States would be awesome and incorporate smells like crops, sea air, and etc into it and maybe a flight into the future!
The pre show area should look like a crop duster hanger. Take care all, tell me what yall think of that idea.

sorry to burst your bubble but i overheard a foodrocks host talking to another guest yesterday that they should see the show because it is very possible that it might close soon. i for one would be very sad to see food rocks go but i do agree that EPCOT needs new attractions because people wont come to the park because they are bored with things that havent changed that much. i think that its more important that WDI puts an atraction , like sorin', that will hold and take in many people in an area that does not draw large crowds. (like food rocks or circle of life) i also think that the land would be an awesome pavilion to put that into because a soring movie would feature LAND. i believe that WDI and EPCOT ops. have thoght this through completly and would not have made any decisions before that. i also believe that WDI has some of the most creative people in the world and they would not be dumb enough to put the same movie in both sorin attractions. i think it is likley they will create a new film using footage from the Cali. one and some new footage to create SORIN' OVER AMERICA.

Yup, I've heard this, also. It's a shame we're losing an AA show, no matter how cheap the AAs are...however, it will be sad to see Mr. Dairy Good go after 21 years!
Anywho, like I said, it would be a shame to see landmarks...I would save this for 360 shows and the like. Since this is in Future World, if it is in the Land, I hope it deals with agriculture/harvest, etc. If it is its "own pavilion," in which it could still take over Food Rocks, I would like to see a whole plethera of information and dedication to flight..and not just single ride sitting there.

Every time I see one of these posts that questions using the California film I laugh a little, and I wonder, would anyone question it if Soarin' first premiered at WDW and not at DCA? Probably not, they would just think that it was a cool attraction.
And, I'm guessing you would say this 'cause the movie for "It's Tough to be a Bug" is different in California than it is at WDW, right?
Why doesn't it? We would still be flying over land, wouldn't we? Or am I missing something?
The rumor says that it's supposed to be a "gift from Disneyland", so keeping the original film for a while wouldn't be surprising or all that horrible.

I don't doubt that WDI will use the same film for this ride (if it's coming at all), but I would doubt them using the name Soarin' Over California. There's no reason for it to be named that. If nobody told me it was shot all in California, I doubt I would have known. In fact, who's to say the word Soarin' will be there at all. Here's to hoping for an original name, if not an original film.

Exactly...you are flying over crops, deserts, mountains, and waterways. If no one told you it was California, you probably wouldn't ever know.
I thought I read somewhere that the film for soarin' at dca ended with a qick fly over of the dl area to give you the feeling that you actually took off and landed back in california. Can anyone confirm this? If this is true then it certainly wouldnt make any sense putting it in Epcot. But then again, Im pretty much against this whole idea anyway. :hammer:
