Good idea TomDisney...to me I think it would be more like a disney film, that is kind of touching, exploration, and more just like Disney Magic.

yes because i live in connecticut:D JK lol

Who is to say they aren't showing waterfalls at Yellowstone, mountain skiing in Vermont, kayakers in a forest stream in northern new york, a New England naval port, any big city in America, the desert in Texas (they show cowboys...), an air force flyover in New Mexico, Iowa farmland, a Floridian orange grove, surfers in Hawaii. Californian topography is an excellent sample of the rest of America. Truthfully, if they wanted to save money, they could film everything in California and tell us it was taped all around the USA and we wouldn't know the difference. The few sites that people will recognize as Californian--the Golden Gate Bridge and Disneyland--are hardly enough to make people think this is a ride solely about that state. Only those of us who know a lot about Disney will know any difference, and we will all be blown away by the ride anyway...they could reflect flashlight animals on the screen and I would enjoy it just for the music...

I think that food rocks could be moved near the food court and it would have that sonny eclipse shctick in epcot(animatronic entertainers in a resturant.)

Clever idea, but there would then be no room for a restaurant! I think it would also disrupt the "peacefullness" of the Land (a sereneness which I can pray stays)...but nontheless, interesting way to salvage the 2-D AAs.

I hate to break it to you-- but other than World Showcase-- just about every other film/preshow video you see at WDW was also filmed in California.

Mission:Space was not really shot at NASA.
Universe of Energy was not really shot in a swamp.
Test Track was not really shot at a GM facility.
Tower of Terror, Rock-N-Roller Coaster, Animation, Star Tours, Great Movie Ride, Killimanjaro Safaris... the list goes on and on.

Just pipe down and be glad Epcot's getting another E-Ticket!

But the thing is, those other films are made out to be someplace different, just as you say, whereas Soarin' over California is just that: In California. It would seem to be confusing to have an attraction bring you right to California without any explination involved...

Just tell everyone in the pre-show "Hey, guess what? We're going to Disneyland!" and that alone is enough to let this clone make sence in Epcot.

And you're right, Dr Albert, Epcot is getting a new attraction! YeeeeHAW! And Future World East really needs it, too!

The reason for the DL fly-over, as already discussed, would be that this is a "gift from Disneyland", meant to celebrate Disneyland's 50th birthday--therefore we would see Disneyland's home state as well as Disneyland itself...it all started at 1313 Disneyland Drive (pretty kewl address...what's the 13th letter of the alphabet?).
Gift..?? Call it what ever you like...
If... i said "IF" it's coming, it's going to be a "direct lift" (copy of an attraction, built for another Disney park)
That's a lot easier this way... Do I aggree?? NO...

You know, the mandate was.. "Don't think about costs, you can't put a price tag on innovation and the brilliant execution of ideas".
"If you do, you may miss the best idea".

These days, the approach is, start with a spreadsheet and work magic from there, which is very hard to do.

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, the Imagineers are warned of the budget before the major concept things become done...at least according to the Tampa Tribune. :)

If you are an Imagineer with your head on straight and Disney offers you $80,000,000 to build another Soarin', even though you would prefer $100,000,000 to make a new film, I don't think you say no--you settle, because at least it means an incredible new attraction will be built.

Ah, Corrus.
Tell me, while we're being all hypothetical....
"if" Soarin is coming to Epcot, would it be more likely to be as an addition to the Land, or perhaps a stand-alone pavillion.
Cast your "EYE" about and give me an opinion.

I just got an idea that would only work if it were a stand alone pavillion, but, how about "Soarin' Over History"? You could start out at the Big Bang, go to the Jurassic period, then Mayan, then Ancient Egyptian, and Ancient Greece, etc, all the way up to the future. Just a thought.

Stand-alone pavillion..have a look at DCA...then you'll know...
Then pick a spot in Epcot.. and Direct Lift...
And shure..... purely "hypothetical":D :D :D

Wow...that's a really interesting idea! Good job!

Or perhaps one that takes you in the DNA chain and in outer space...and...wait, that was Horizons. :p
