Speculation on Soarin' Over....

In DCA's Soarin, you do indeed fly over the Disneyland park at the end of you flight, so that would be in need of change if it is indeed a California true clone film. Hard hard would it be to film new footage really? You could use alot of the same smells and effects but a new film, that would be cheap, right? Also, about the getting rid of Food Rocks...I have no idea if they will or not, but how much sense would it make to put it there? From what I gather, the building for Epcot's Soarin' would be between the Land and the Living Seas. Now correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the Food Rocks area on the Imagination side of the Land? So, if this is true, wouldn't that be a major waste of money to have to build around the Listen to the Land ride area, or construct a tunnel leading to the actual ride buildings? Just trying to put two and two together here, tell me what you think...

I too, really wouldn't mind that much if they kept the same film at the start, because personally, I've only flown over california once, and I was a really cloudy day so I have no idea how much differant the californian landscape is from the rest of the nation. I do hope they do a lot of the sensory stuff like the smells of oranges. I just though too (I don't know why) that they could do an alternate ending and instead of flying over per say, EPCOT, (because that is where it takes off and lands) they could do like a fly-by of the park and have near misses with people who would be ducking and jumping out of the way. I don't know I think it would be kinda funny......:lookaroun

I believe the attraction would be an exact clone, but would have a more barnstormer theme than an aviation theme, perhap they may change the name to "Soarin over the Land" dropping the California part, but use the same footage.

Also like how Timekeeper was made for Euro Disney, and when transplanted here, They didnt change the ending to show the USA in the future, its shows France. Though the storyline line does fit the story, I doubt that if the film was intended for USA audience they would show the USA in the future.

So in conclusion, i see no changes except for the name happening to the new Soarin.

The reason for the DL fly-over, as already discussed, would be that this is a "gift from Disneyland", meant to celebrate Disneyland's 50th birthday--therefore we would see Disneyland's home state as well as Disneyland itself...it all started at 1313 Disneyland Drive (pretty kewl address...what's the 13th letter of the alphabet?).

Who CARES if the scenery was shot in California-- a state that has just about every "Land" topography in the country-- shoreline, mountains, desert, plains, and cities.

I hate to break it to you-- but other than World Showcase-- just about every other film/preshow video you see at WDW was also filmed in California.

Mission:Space was not really shot at NASA.
Universe of Energy was not really shot in a swamp.
Test Track was not really shot at a GM facility.
Tower of Terror, Rock-N-Roller Coaster, Animation, Star Tours, Great Movie Ride, Killimanjaro Safaris... the list goes on and on.

Just pipe down and be glad Epcot's getting another E-Ticket!

Since the ending of the DCA version has you flying over DL's castle into the fireworks, it would be neat if they had you flying over spaceship earth into the fireworks. I can see them leaving the ending at disneyland, since it will be celebrating disneyland, but it would make more sense to have the Disneyland portion at a time other than the end. Why would you be getting off in Anaheim? I think half the people riding it will think Disneyland is the Magic Kingdom in FL...so I don't think it will mean that much to leave the ending as it is. What can they do, pop a big Happy 50th, Disneyland logo onto the end?

Actually it is 1313 Harbor Blvd

Well, I guess I better see Food Rocks! when I go up in December, since I haven't seen it before (assuming it's still open). It always seemed a little too 'kiddie' for me, but I'll just have to check it out and see.

As far as Soarin' goes, I've heard the audio from the ride on that Disney station on Live365.com, and it sounds like it's alot of fun. Hopefully if it does come they won't change it too much.

Just reread the article and yes I am, but may I ask who took a leak in your cheerios.

I don't think anyone did. I don't think he likes Cheerios. You did ask to be corrected if you were wrong and you were so he did.

Uh, okay.
Seems that came across wrong.
Let me try that again...

Pardon me Yoda, but per your post, I feel obligated to act upon you request to inform you if you were in error. It is my humble opinion, based on personal knowledge, that the new attraction will in fact not be on the Living Seas side of the Land, but on the other, southern side of the aforesaid Land pavillion. Please take no offense to my pointing this out, as you politely asked someone to do in your original post. Accept my humble apology if my reply came across as angry or in any way "y".

Personally I think the Disney board should review and pass a completely new film.....of ALL the countries that will eventually be part of Epcot, famous landmarks and items of interest and export of each country.

Its what Walt would do...:animwink:

Keep the songs! PLEASE keep the songs!

Seriously though, I *really* want "Canada!" and music from "Impressions" to stay...it's all just too beautiful. :)

Mr. D...I like your idea. I would think they would want to add Soarin' to the World Showcase. I like the idea of soarin' over America which could go in the World Showcase or some other country.

In that case, I would consider placing it in World Showcase! :)

I, too, vote for Soarin Over America....start the film at Disneyland and go cross country with the film and have it end with a flyover of DisneyWorld.
