Hi everyone! Does anyone know how the spinning globe thingys move around in SpectroMagic. They have the Spectromen on them and it is right after the first float. Thanks.

I guess they are like the MSEP equivilent - like the other floats they have onboard power and a driver. These floats, however, have a steering system more like a dodgem car; turn the wheel far enough and the front (or equivilent) wheels turn 90 degrees to the others to spin on the spot.

I wonder if two of them have ever banged into each other...and how do the SpectroMen stay on them? Are the turns random or is there a pattern because wouldn't you think they would fall of since they don't know which way it's going to go next?

There are Drivers, they are not automatically controlled. The drivers determine how much to spin, which way, etc. They've never run into each other, and the Spectro Men wear seatbelts.

Matter o' fact, pretty much any character on every float is strapped down in one way or another to make sure they don't fall off ( usually looks like a velvet rope tail hanging off their butt :lookaroun ). I think the only exceptions are the ostriches on the fantasia float -- and they have handrails to grab on to.

Also Diva Ostrich, Jaq and Gus Gus are not teathered :) I also want to say that Goofy isn't either....

Cool! Are the drivers in the balls themselves or backstage using some sort of tracking device thingy. As you can see, I know almost nothing about this kind of stuff.:)

All floats and their "accessories", and mini floats have scanners on their under carriage that scan each puck that is embeded into the ground. This information is then related to DACS and the spacing between floats is determined.

There are drivers in the spinny-things.

Thanks for the info.

It must be a tight space in there!

Only the 3:00 parade uses the puck system. Spectromagic uses Radio Communications off the castle.

Goofy now does wear a harness in Spectro, however the 3 faries do not. Most all charactors in the 3:00 parade wear harnesses of some kind, exceptions there include Jafar/Radcliffe, Jiminy Cricket, Snow White (sometime dopey), and Wendy.

No, in Spectro Merryweather wears a harness. She is the only fairy to do so.

Harnesses? Can you explain what you mean by that? I mean, I know what a harness is but how does the harness keep the Spectromen from falling of the globe things?

Thanks for pointing that out! She does wear a harness, and although I don't know the exact reason, I believe it may have something to do with the driver's location on the float (if I'm not mistaken, he's in the back).
