It makes complete sense. And this thread should have been shut down after someone had put a link on here that can ILLEGALLY give you the music which is therefor in violation of the forum rules.

What part doesn't make sense?
Say Disney hires a composer and 10 studio musicians to score/record the music for the Timekeeper. Unless the contract specifically allows it, Disney owns the music but only has the right to use the music in the attraction. If Disney also wants the rights to sell the music on CD (or iTunes) it would have to pay more upfront in order to compensate the musicians/unions for the extra rights. In the past, Disney didn't want to do this, although I understand all of the newer music is covered under the initial agreement.
In some cases, the extra outlay to obtain the rights would be substantial, in effect, duplicating the cost. This makes releasing the music non-profitable and, as much as we would all like to see more music released, Disney is a profit oriented business.
The other issue is that Disney uses a substantial amount of commercially available material in the parks/resorts, which they have no right to sell. All they have is a user agreement to play the music in a public location. So, for example, if you wanted Disney to sell the current Liberty Square or Adventureland BGMs, you'd be out of luck. My only complaint with the commercial stuff is that I wish Disney did a better job of providing playlists for this material. Someone must have it, but it's been extremely difficult to find someone willing to share it.

Look I didn't mean to make everyone mad. I'm new to the boards and didn't know you couldn't listen to disney music on your computer. some of us just love disney as I and can't afford to buy the cd's. if you can good for you. you are lucky. just came to this boards to find friends who love disney like me but see I came to the wrong place. sorry I caused problems and think I'll go somewhere else to find friends. again sorry.

I bought a CD of the Spectromagic theme the last time I went to WDW. Surely it can be ordered at the WDW website?

Try downloading and playing it on Windows Media Player. Oh the imagery!!!! :sohappy:
BTW, my CD doesn't have Roger Rabbit on it. And frankly, I wish it didn't have any character voices on it at all....just the glorious music...

Question, Is ALL Disney music on cd form for sale at the parks, or just certain albums or songs. My library is decent, but I always would like to add to it! I have ordered from ITunes, Amazon and local stores...but there are some songs that are not on thes forms.

There are lots of things that are NOT available on CD, iTunes or Amazon. For many MANY things, including the entire library of "Walt Disney World Forever" and "Disneyland Forever" songs that used to be available at the parks, you can head to mousebits.com. There are TONS of legal torrents there with commercially unavailable music. You wont' find anything that you can buy in the store there, though. :wave:
