I’ll see if @Gringrinngghost still has them first.@marni1971 has all those old pics backed up I believe.

Someone could write a script that screenshots every post in the thread.I wonder if there's a way to preserve this thread. There is so much information in here that it would be a shame if the thread ever disappeared or WDWMagic went down.

Being the geek I am with these things, I`ve recently been doing some research for a video including 180 top from the Perrin & Cronkite era.
As well as the satellite and astronaut there was also a form - as in a shape in the darkness - of a space station. The station had a window in it which had a girl looking out, hands on glass, watching the work on the satellite. It was this `station` that the ride passed under and into backwards, and it was also the structure that held the red strips of light and dome above the track as the descent began.
Here is a work in progress of the layout of 180 top pre 1994:
I guess what interests me is that even though I have ridden SSE 100's of times, I have never been fortunate enough to see the 180Top lit up.
It sounds silly but i'm the kind of guy that would get excited on TTA when going through Space Mountain with the lights on lol.
I hope over the last 14 years I’ve managed it!Excellent work! I cant wait to see the finished work!

These are the unmodified ones. I would have to recreate the ones I've modified (the really bright ones). This was such an interesting and informative thread. Would anyone happen to be able to re-post the photos with broken links way back on page 39-40? I'd love to see them if possible
While far from perfect, Archive.org’s Wayback Machine does save a good chunk of the internet. Including the forums here, and many of the pictures uploaded to the site.I wonder if there's a way to preserve this thread. No Problemo! I need to go though the sets of photos I've shot over the past year of the current iteration of SSE to see if there's anything worth wild to post here. I have a few more unreleased from around the same time frame a friend of mine took that i need to get permission on posting. So those storage cabinets are just in the middle area of the 180top? I guess I cant blame them if you cant see them during normal lighting conditions. Thank you so much @Gringrinngghost & @marni1971 !!!!
Yep. It’s a bit of a dump up there in the dark.So those storage cabinets are just in the middle area of the 180top? I guess I cant blame them if you cant see them during normal lighting conditions. Thank you so much @Gringrinngghost & @marni1971 !!!!
I wouldn't say it's very dark anymore. It's pretty bright and you can see a lot of what's up there without needing a flash.Yep. It’s a bit of a dump up there in the dark.
True. Blame the 2007 Earth for that.I wouldn't say it's very dark anymore. It's pretty bright and you can see a lot of what's up there without needing a flash.
Technically the moon was on the other side of the track. This area was directly below the larger satellite. This area was black tarped. Here’s one from the evac earlier this year. You can faintly see the bottom of the space station cylinder behind all the endless blue light bars. The fabric and what resemble railroad ties on the ground is the remnants of the 3D moon surface that covered the floor:
