Spaceship earth with lights on ride video

I wish there was a way to mute the passenger noise in this video without missing out on the ride audio. Good grief, Brazillian tour groups suddenly don't seem so obnoxious anymore.

As for the video itself (minus the frat boy commentary), very interesting to see SSE like this. Thanks for sharing.
If it was still the Irons narration maybe but not being able to hear the current narration is actually an improvement to the ride in my opinion.

#1 - The narrator acting like a dork in an attempt to be funny.

#2 - The pottymouth(possibly the narrator) saying that someone was "f'ing it up for everyone".

#3 - Someone using flash WITH THE LIGHTS ON!!!

#4 - Really cool to see the ride with the lights on.

Lol, don't be. Its pretty scary to see just how close you are to all the beams and support rods and everything else you ride through lol. In the dark you don't see it, in the light you don't want too lol.

There is so much jealousy happening right now...

Would it be possible Disney could offer the other narrations of the ride? For example, on the touch screen you can choose between Cronkite, Irons, Dench, etc.? I know the show scenes wouldn't match exactly, but it would be pretty cool to have the option.
That would be AWESOME!

Neat. The video has it all. Lights on. Exit doors. Ladders all over the place. :)

Oh, and I see the paperboy is fully operational, albeit still facing the wrong way. When I saw him two years ago he wasn't moving and his clothes were all out of sorts... Like he had been beaten up.

Just wish they had a little more light on the descent. Surprised the fans didn't bring a big spotlight and shine it where the girl in the window was. With the 180 top empty it is painfully obvious that space is designed for a more dramatic climax scene than what they have now.

Also, the video does a nice job of showing how different SSE is compared to Horizons (and other rides). SSE looks like they built a modern office building, complete with carpeted hallways, protected stairways, elevators, and well marked easily accessible exits. Then they meticulously snaked a ride through it and made the cubicles/offices/lobbies into scenes. Take away the omnimover and it looks like people could safely walk through there unescorted (until they reached the descent).

If the Mesa Verde Times' pics and vids are representative of the entire ride, Horizons looks like they built the ride system, then assembled a series of temporary movie sets up around it with little regard for allowing people to move through the attraction outside of the ride system. It looks like it was entirely too easy to get injured in Horizons from all the narrow pathways, dropoffs, and exposed architecture.

Then again, we still only see the fronts of the SSE scenes. Who knows evil lurks on the other side.

SSE has an elevated track vs the show scenes in sections too.. you can see that in parts of the video. The main difference of course is SSE is a floor track, and Horizons was the suspended system. Horizons is only open like you mention on the show scene side. The backside has the full walkway, doors, etc like you see in the SSE vid. SSE also has an elevator core, so that is what you see lots of in the video.. access to that central core.

Part of the coolness of Horizons was how they did stack the show scenes on top of each other (and you could actually see from one scene to another in very specific instances). Horizons is a very intricate layout.. where SSE had a lot more room so things are a lot more straight forward. But I do think its crazy how the decent is stuffed in there!

One of the many cool things about this video is i liked how the background music was far louder then the headrest spiel. Because the camera was being held up in the air, away from the headrest audio, it made for a cool soundtrack to the experience. The score is GREAT.....i am sure one of the Disney audio-fan websites has it up...must go looking for it sometime.

Of course i have heard it many times in person, but it was great to see this captured in a video. The instrumental score gives SSE a grandness that the currant narration does NOT give it...at least to me. Jeremey Irons really played that up well...sad to see the *grand and miraculous spaceship* sink to a comedic feel in the currant state. But i digress....

The video was great. Many thanks for sharing this gem!

Because the top of SSE with the lights on... o_O

I always wondered why people got excited by the earth projection scene. Every time I ride SS the scene looks like a bunch of AV equipment packed into a small room with a small projection of earth on a wall behind it. With the lights on in the video I saw, a bunch of AV equipment packed into a small room with a small projection of earth on a wall behind it.

What are all of those black boxes and why are they magical?

I enjoyed seeing the attraction with the lights on (minus the talk) and I understand the thrill of it but this scene I just don't get because there is nothing to see!

Looking at the video, when we reach the top of SSE, it looks like there are two giant tv monitors just standing there in front of you as you turn to exit the 'matrix' tunnel. The rest of it is quite a jumble, but still pretty cool to see after all this time.

Lots of eye candy here for Park geeks....(drools)
