Spaceship Earth wheel spinning

I've sure this has been discussed a million times, but never got around to asking or finding the exact answer. Why did they turn the newsie kid around backwards so that he's facing the wall? And how bout the chariot that would come and go in Rome?
he has a cut lip and they wanted to open the show scene up some more so people wouldn't grab at him. As far as the chariot goes, the projector is still there, it just has a piece of tape covering it up. I guess they decided not to use it anymore...

It's the little things right? Just had it confirmed that the long static and then behind tarps big spinning wheel in the newspaper scene is now full operational again.
it's been working for like 5 days now. they had steam coming out but it was making the show scene way too humid so that effect is currently off. hopefully they can lessen the steam and turn it back on

Think about it.......is this how far things have fallen. Where all we have nothing new or worthy to discuss besides a spinning wheel effect being fixed?.......really? I am not knocking you guys. It just hit me that here we are sitting talking about a wheel spinning. However there is construction on the new parking garage at DTD. :banghead: By the time mine coaster opens up the rest of FL will need a refurb.

It's tough getting a pic in there...darkness and there's a lot of fast spinning motion now! I'll see what kind of pic I can get today.

I hear the straw dispenser, 2nd from the left, in the Electric Umbrella Restaurant has been fixed and is now fully operational!

He shouldn't be talking to you - the characters in the ride are not supposed to be aware of you passing through, if that makes sense.
I think so too.

It's called 'breaking the fourth wall'. In theater, the actors have three walls surrounding them, the back, left and right side of the stage. The fourth wall is open, the one facing the audience. The actors act as if this wall is closed, they do not acknowledge the audience.

In WDW, rides like Pirates and SSE have a fourth wall. Even though the ride takes you right through the stage you are not acknowledged, you are not part of the event. At Small world, or parades, the puppets and actors do acknowledge you, they perform for you, you are a spectator. And in classic Snow White and Toad, the actors interact with you within the story, the spectator is the protagonist, you are the star.
Haunted Mansion is a difficult mix between all of these.

This has driven me crazy for a long time, it is such a simple projection effect that you would think it would have been fixed ages ago. Hell, I will fix it for them for free afterhours.
One day, one day, some of us are going urban guerilla against Disney. We'll break in and fix stuff for them. Gimme six guys, fifteen hundred dollars, and two night shifts, and I'll have half the stuff fixed in any given ride.

Puberty keeps coming earlier and earlier. Maybe Junior is turning away from us to hide the shame of becoming a Baby Daddy.

I always imagined that character having no face, since it's turned away from us... Really freaks me out to think about it turning around and that being the case. I mean I've seen it when it was turned, but still

The paperboy did have a face. But silly guests complained about their precious kids getting scared. So they turned paperboy around and removed all of the other scary elements from SSE as well. It is now a lame ride about communications.

I saw it on Sunday with the steam full on, but I thought the "steam" was actually liquid nitrogen, like most of the park. Is that not the case?
