Spaceship Earth mysteries...

I found a website with some odd facts about Spaceship Earth. This one puzzled me most, and I wanted to see if anyone could clarify this: "The names of the people who designed Spaceship Earth are written on the book the sleeping monk is leaning on." If anyone knows the truth, I would love to know! Here is the website with a few more odd facts: http://www.glasssteelandstone.com/US/FL/EPCOTSpaceshipEarth.html. If someone could clarify these too, that would be great!

The chariots are hysterical. They kind of creep me out though, because they look like ghosts. Nothing beats the smell of Rome burning.

What exactly do you need "clairified."

As for the book. There is a sleeping monk in the ride and it is very possible there names are on that book, as leacing little things like that is not uncommon.

Yeah, the Monk's who are transcribing the written history. They are sitting at the two sided desk, one is busy writing, the other is sound asleep, even snoring. It's one of my favorite scenes!

I had a quick look at the page. The facts look OK to me. I can't say for sure about the book that the monk sleeps on, but this isn't the first time I have heard about it.

Don't know about the names in the book but it's possible... I do remember a sleeping monk though :p

Love this ride. Will have to pay attention next time I ride in September regarding the names.

Would not surprise me if it was true.

Wasn't there a narrator before Walter Cronkite when SE first opened?

I do remember reading about names written in the book the Monk is sleeping over. There are also some hidden Mickey's in SE also. :)

Do you all think that last fact is true? Here's the quote... "More people ride Spaceship Earth than any other attraction at Disneyworld and since Disneyworld is the most popular tourist attraction in the world, Spaceship Earth is the most popular ride in the world"

I'd believe it - I love the ride. But the reason I ask is because if this is the case wouldn't it make that other thread about them changing Spaceship Earth a mute point? Because if Spaceship Earth is truly the most popular ride in the world why would Disney mess with that?!?!?! Just a thought... :veryconfu

Yes, the original narrator for SSE was Vic Perrin. However there is some dispute that it may have been Walker Edmiston or Walter Pigeon.

I also found that the website has Epcot categorized as a "museum" quite amusing. Whomever is in charge of that website needs slapped.
