Spaceship Earth mysteries...

Do you all think that last fact is true? Here's the quote... "More people ride Spaceship Earth than any other attraction at Disneyworld and since Disneyworld is the most popular tourist attraction in the world, Spaceship Earth is the most popular ride in the world"

I cannot trust that website, only becasue it makes such an obvious logical error. Logically, even if more people go on SSE than any other ride (which looks wrong anyway) the fact that it's also at the most popular vacation destination does NOT mean there could never be a ride the more people go on in a less popular park. It's rubbish!

It's listed now as "Entertainment Venue". hahaha... :)

There are definitely more hidden Mickey's than the one on the sleeping monk's tablet. I'm not going to spill any beans, but one hint - the Oreo cookies do NOT qualify. :)

I love the chariot scene, the smell of Rome burning... it's really one of my favorite rides. Now, if they would just make the vehicles more comfortable.... ;)

This quote is interesting:

In spite of its huge size and hurricane-resistant girth, this scaffold is only temporary. In fact, it isn't even attached to the Spaceship Earth. It appears to extend over the sphere, but looking carefully you can see that a substantial portion of it leans in the opposite direction, shifting the center of gravity and stabilizing the structure.

I think most of us wish that the scaffold was only temporary. I thought it was until they replaced "2000" with "Epcot."
Oh well, we can still hope.

Im sure the wand will come down for the 25. Untill then enjoy it! And when the 25 does come around I hope they don't just take it down and leave SSE the way it is. They need to Clean it and project images on it or somthin. It looks very dated just plain IMO.

For those that love the smell of Rome burning, there is a liquid grilling seasoning product called Liquid Smoke that has precisely the same scent. Make your steaks smell like Rome!

I'd never before heard of the names of the designers being in the monk's book, but I had heard most of the other statements about SSE on that website.

I can never see the mickey on the tablet. I thought it was made up at first.

I also am a big fan of the Chariots turning the sharp corner and screaming down the road! I also think they kind of seem like ghosts because of the glow. Thanks for the tip on the burning of Rome scent Captain Hank :sohappy:

I also agree that the music throughout SSE is what makes the attraction most powerfull. Although I do miss Tomorrow's Chlild and I have trouble finding a copy of it.

All the elements of SSE are really emotional to me and can really show you how small you are to the universe and time. just ions and ions of time.

The chariots are hysterical. They kind of creep me out though, because they look like ghosts. Nothing beats the smell of Rome burning.

I love the smell of rome burning too. The smells are what brings me back to when I was there as a child.

There was a different narrator before cronkite,

This is the original version of the Spaceship Earth attraction which ran from October 1, 1982 until May 25, 1986. It was replaced with Walter Cronkite's narration and a new finale song on May 26, 1986. There is conflicting information about the identity of the original narrator. Names reported include Vic Perrin, Walker Edmiston, and Walter Pigeon. For now, until conclusive evidence is found, Vic Perrin will be used

Well you are in luck! The new WDW soundtrack for the the Happiest Celebration on Earth includes Tomorrow's Child! It is an excellent soundtrack and any WDW fan should pick it up!

The wand is temporary - it was only engineered/designed to be there 10 years. Others can do the math. ;)

I didn't know that it was only supposed to be there 10 years. And, yes, I can add! That sounded a bit insulting. Maybe it wasn't meant that way.

If it went up in 1999 then it should come down on or before 2009. See, I can add.

I find that very hard to believe - you've only got to take a look at the lines for BTMR or SM and it becomes doubtful

If only it was the full ride version, not the edited one that`s been released time and time again... :(
