Space Mountain Refurbishment for Walt Disney World?

State? Disney is self regulating
Aah, yes, the infamous Reedy Creek Improvement District…still, if you think Disney would allow a mass casualty event to occur instead of repairing or replacing the ride, you’ve got WAY too much free time on your hands.
I’ve said this before, if the Cyclone in Coney Island, NY could still be running since 1927, Space Mountain can still be running since 1975.

No, it has nothing to do with the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

“The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) has statewide responsibility to inspect all amusement rides in Florida, except for those at large parks that have more than 1,000 employees and have full-time inspectors on staff.”

Ok, Disney regulates their own rides…it doesn’t change the fact that it would be corporate suicide to allow a mass casualty event on one of their rides due to negligence. SM is not going to collapse, the cars aren’t going to go flying off the tracks…

The state of NJ regulates all amusement rides, and they had to shut down El Toro at SF Great Adventure due to structural damage. I guess while they can’t keep the AAs working at Splash, they can keep Space Mountain running, rough ride and all.

We claim it is corporate arrogance

Allow, no.

Take chances that lead to some random fatality. Pressler era type operations that TDO is in matches that.

Also, I don't think you need to insult how someone uses their free time. It does not take that long to think "Their standards are declining."

It is not like that means it occupies that person's day.

The cyclone has been rebuilt and operates much less than the demands of Space Mt. I am not saying Space Mt is unsafe, but it is not in its most safe condition it has ever been in.

We were there earlier this year, around May 5th 2023. I noticed the fast pass side of the ride was AWFUL. So uncomfortable it wasn't fun. It gave me a migraine one time riding it and I had to leave my family at the park to go back to the hotel. I eventually stopped riding it in the evenings despite the lines being short at that time. The regular line side isn't as bad but who wants to wait an hour? My husband must be totally un-observant about these things because he couldn't tell they were 2 different tracks and couldn't tell one was worse than the other. Even before the one side became so rough, years ago, I could tell they were different tracks. I can tolerate the regular line side still, at least on my first day at Disney before I'm all sore. Sadly I probably won't be riding it till they replace or repair it. Don't want to wait an hour to ride the slightly better side and don't want to risk a migraine and damaged back to ride the other side.

I’m sorry you don’t ride it the evenings anymore. That’s when it runs faster!

I don’t ride anymore either, it’s too hard on my knees. Wife and family just got stuck on the ride and they are evacuating now. I am waiting for a pic.

I definitely think Omega (the FP side) is more intense and fast than Alpha after riding both back-to-back multiple times. I wouldn't say it's rough though, it's still quite smooth, it just has very jarring and jerky transitions (which are hard to brace for when it's pitch black).

Disney has no problem with corporate suicide.
