Has anyone got any inside info on what the new cars will look like?
How about any plans for the new layout of the loading area?

Indeed. Some say yes, some say no. If they did happen expect them to look like the new Matterhorn prototype.

Well over a year before Space Mountain reopened at Disneyland the new rockets were already being displayed in public and had made the rounds on the Internet. Perhaps once the attraction closes at WDW they will do the same thing and display the new vehicles to build excitement?

Here's the current Disneyland Space Mountain rockets with the audio speakers built in just below the head restraints. http://land.allears.net/blogs/lauragilbreath/space4.jpg

And here's a picture of the prototype for the new boblseds at the Matterhorn in Disneyland. http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/112/bobsledsrf8.jpg

Or maybe they just go totally retro and dig out these old Disney beauties? http://davelandweb.com/matterhorn/popup.htm?images/60s/Drall_5_28_61_OlympicElk.jpg

If Space Mountain gets new cars, hopefully they will be a little more comfortable.

The seats themselves are the most comfortable seats of any ride on property! And they're a heck of alot better then when you used to have to sit 2 people to a seat.

They could use alittle more leg room in those cars tho...

I agree that the current seats are comfortable. Leg room is OK for me, but I'm short (:D). The leg room gets a little cramped when I try to place my backpack in the space.

You want uncomfortable? Ride Splash Mountain at Disneyland. Yikes. Its a freaking torture device.
I couldn't tell you if the Space Mountain seats are comfortable or not...I was too busy screaming in pain from the whiplash. Okay, maybe not screaming, but definitely gnashing my teeth! :)

You are getting new cars as the current cars could not be retrofitted with the audio systems being added. The actual layout for the loading area is not being changed very much as far as I know.

As long as new cars/audio is a go I'm gonna be one happy camper.

The load is still getting enclosed right?

Someone needs to photoshop that pic to make it look like it's an in-line 3-seater. :animwink:

I got no skills with Photoshop, but I do have fun with Paint.:D
Probably look more like these anyhow...

Wonder if WDWs version is getting the inline seating or the 2-wide like at DL? I kinda like the inline seating personally, I think there would be less width room if they went with the 2-wide...unless the new track has a wider gauge...i guess it would almost have to right?

Yep, it appears they will keep the inline seating.
