The Conundrum

crappy attempt at recreating the appearance of the front of the thing:

note: the square was a hole in the middle. anyone recognize this?

That actually looks more like the spaceship that sits in Disneyland's SM queue.

Although the only person that would know for sure what that is is Martin.

Passed by SM last night.. there is a large white object (large=the size of 3 or 4 pick up trucks) on the side of the building, and down a little bit..... COULD be the space station that was on the lift hill.. it was hard to tell, but was definately in that 'style'...

this may be getting interesting now :)

Yay! They're getting rid of it!:sohappy:

now for some all new special effects:lookaroun

I know it's a bit premature, but I have hope, if that's the case...

after looking at pictures from the SM disneyland queue (loading area).. I can say that it is VERY possible that is what I saw outside of the building at WDW yesterday.... I will probably be by there again within a couple of days... but I can't imagine they would leave a new prop outside that long..

I was told the Explorer on the lift hill was staying in situ albeit updated. This could be part of the covered load area dressing, but it does look very similar to the Explorer. Unless it is removed for a rebuild, or they have to remove it for other work.

I tell you Martin, thats really striking me as what I saw, however.... I believe it may have been in a 'protective' plastic wrapping... this would be similar to the heat-shrink wrapping I saw the RNR limo (the one from the sign) in on it's way back to the studios from central shops.... It's like a plastic heat-shrink wrapping around the entire structure.. It doesn't stick to the show pieces, it is 'shrunk (heat?) around them, and then cut away once delivered...

Starting to wish I had taken a picture yesterday... My gut tells me that it won't be out there next time...

Also... is it possible that I saw the ORIGINAL show piece from the lift AFTER it had taken a trip to central shops to be refurbed? I guess so... either way, I think the SM refurb just got interesting :)

If this were a REAL refurb, they'd throw LED lights and fog machines in the "Toothpaste Caps" of the Explorer to make it really look like Ion engines.

They won't though, I know it...
